Gene Newport

Gene lived in Edgewater, Maryland which is near Annapolis. He was still working in his nineties. and maybe until the day he died. He, along with his son Bo Newport, and his grandson Michael Newport played pool. I haven't seen them in years. I know that Bo has a Facebook account, and might be willing to fill in some details, especially over a game of One-Pocket. :D

I had enormous respect for Gene, and considered him a great friend.

Gene was one of the greatest human beings to walk this planet and one of the best opponents in a game of one pocket. Towards the end he didn't have the body to shoot, but that knowledge was still sharp as a tack. Spent a massive amount of time with Gene Newport (paw paw) when I was a kid up through my early 20's when he passed. If anyone ever needs any information on him and some history I'd be happy to fill you in. Heck! I could most likely write a book on the guy, with all the story's I listened to in that basement over a good old game of one pocket.

If you have any of his cues or know of where any are I'd be interested in purchasing.

Thanks Zach C.
