If we can’t win with ranking qualifications , perhaps let’s entertain the idea of three gritty hustlers + two anchor pros. I suggest Bergman, Hennessey, Smith + Van Boening, Woodward or ...

There's just no way the USA is gonna beat the rest of the world. Those days are over. It's time to retire the Mosconi cup and begin anew. :yikes::eek:uttahere:

There are only 2 pros in this country, making a real living off tournament pool. One is from Scotland.

What we are seeing now is the effect of losing high paying tournaments and real sponsorship of players. Without the money our best players cannot afford to take their shot on the road. Bergman and Dechaine are perfect examples of this. They are easily the 2nd and 3rd best Americans we have.

Professional pool is a fringe sport. The corporations involved have taken what they can from it and there is nothing left. The BCA, APA and pool equipment manufacturers/retailers could give up 2% of profits and it would be plenty for a professional tour. We are in the downward spiral of professional pool.

I would love to see the pro game come back to have a major place in sports again, but what would the APA or BCA gain from helping the professional player?

Are the pro players in this country contributing to the amateur game?

Why would anybody give $ to pro pool, nobody watches it.
They would get way more return if they lit the money on fire on youtube.

The reason you support a sport and those who play it at it's highest level is because that gives us all something to aspire to. Pool is a lot more than sitting around, drinking Kool Aid and playing handicapped pool for patches, plastic trophies and entries to casino based World Tournaments. The corporations involved in this game are killing what it was and could be.
