Amazon has a 2 axis DRO for under $200.
I always wanted a DRO but most were expensive.
Comes with a lot of mounting hardware and its fairly simple to do.
Here are some photos showing how I installed it.

Very Nice for you....
I worked in a shop- several years ago-
shop had the DRO on the main machinist lathe-PRICELESS PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, to me"
Reason I have ton's of respect for John Showman work and Craig Peterson,
2 cue makers very basic equipment-FLAWLESS WORKMANSHIP

Can you show a picture of the way you mounted the other axis? Does it interfere with the lead screw? Thank you for the original post and the future pictures!

Using two of the supplied brackets I mounted one on each end and mounted the scale on them. Had to drill and tap 2 1/4-20 holes to mount the brackets.
The scale is moved by a long screw extending into a hole drilled into the bottom of the carriage.
The scale is about .875" below the bottom of the round rails and interferes with nothing.
Their is about .010" backlash in the X axis with that setup but that is no big problem not being a CNC controlled axis.

If you purchase one of these I will gladly turn the lathe upside down and take some detailed photos of the installation for you.
Any cue maker would have no real problems mounting this DRO on a Porper cue lathe.
