That sure was a tough tournament to watch.
Not sure why the players seemed to have played slower than they usually do. I don’t remember Shane vs Ko, Shane vs Albin, or Biado vs Filler being this slow of a finals.

Also, if I’m not mistaken, Fedor lost early to Fotunski and was benefitted by the double elimination while those who won right away had an entire day off and went straight to single elimination. With a smaller field, the knockout stage should have been bumped up to final 16 or even 32.

Either way, congratulations to Fedor...been a subscriber to his billiard brothers YouTube channel for a while now and his drill videos show the hard work he has put in over the last few years. This world championship was inevitable. His work with Coach Johan from the last few years has benefitted greatly, to not just him but the country of Russia. This title will be a big boost for that country and the young talent emerging from there.

chang did the same thing last year iirc, put in the slow grind gear. we all know he doesn't have to. following WPA rules they should have put a clock on his matches, but that is my interpretation. it's up to the TD i guess.

Only just realised he lost his first game but thankfully he took his second chance well. He took down 4 Taiwanese players and what I’d call 3 Top 10 players so fully deserved. Was down in a few. He’s no Filler as yet to start calling him one of the world’s best but at 19 what a talent. Great demeanour/temperament. Boy have Europe got some great young talent.

is that a new rule? what is the cut off age

There is a whole thread about it. Indiana voted in land based casino gaming. Indiana casinos used to be boats connected to land based buildings. Juniors were allowed in the land based buildings but not on the casino boats. Now that the boat is gone, the host venue has remodeled and the whole building is 21 and up.

Unfortunately pool isn't the only sport whose organizers are blinded by money.

Events like these are a feather in the cap for countries like Qatar. The fact that no one attends in person and the rest of the world doesn't like the ultimate result is irrelevant to them and the people they pay for rights.

that's a subscription based article, so I wont be able to read it but I'd imagine the message they are telling is not hard to guess.

Not quite, the casino floor is 21 and over but.....Diamond could set up a table in the lobby of the hotel and the under 21 year olds could play all their matches there!!!

Maybe but I don't remember the lobby being that big.

I foresee a venue change in the future.

And now after 4 hours and on the potential final rack, the stream crashes.

I wonder if the recording is messed up at the same time as well? I want to see what the kid did with the 2 ball to get out for the win. I had me and 2 other techs watching in the shop when the stream crashed. (good thing my boss doesn't azb) Then it came back on with the 7, 8 and 9 left on the table.

Congratulations Fedor! Well done and well deserved!

All I know is that at league tonight after I win a game I’m going to throw my cue on the floor with both hands.

Thanks for the link!

Yea, I'm not throwing my cue, ever. Don't matter what tourney I just won lol. I just couldn't do that.

Man, he hit that one ball good!

Like winning a Nascar race and then running your car into the wall - f'ing stupid!

Dont know who started this trend, but its idiotic.
