I'm finding that if I lean too far down my sight starts to blur.

Dies anyone know why?

You'll need rectumoptical surgery. The nerve between your rectum and your
eye is pinched when bending over too far, giving you a shitt-tay sight picture.

It could be many things or a combo of things.

Do you need to trim your eyebrows?

Have you been to a real eye doctor lately? (numero uno, imho)

You might be having spots/floaters blocking your vision.

Are you old enough to have cataracts?

You might be reducing the blood flow to your brain with your neck pinched?

I'm out of ideas.

It happens to me also not all the time , I'm pretty sure in my case it has to do with my neck ,,

I have alswYs played more upright because I see and sight everything much better from like the overhead positions compared to looking at them level( down all the way w chin on shaft) and never considered there was a medical reason but more that was everyone is different. I don’t have th best eyes n have struggled w trying to use glasses or contacts for years n eventually gave up n play without both so I’m sure that has something to do with it

more flex in leg

After playing for almost 60 yrs i found out by taking a more aggressive stance, lowering my body with the legs in a stance like a prize fighter or martial arts stance. Ive learned to stand at address like efren, left foot parallel with your cue and lots of flex in legs..The lower the body the less stress in the eyes. Good luck. PS less stress in back also.:)

I think it’s a product of age.
Pictures of Mosconi in 1940 show him a lot lower on the cue than 1960.
Gary Owen, a two time world amateur snooker champion, was typically chin on cue when
he won the titles....but 15 years later, he looked more like a pool player.

Rifle-sight aiming is a bit overrated, IMO....Cowboy Jimmy Moore stood almost straight up...
....and he played good 6x12 snooker besides pool and 3-cushion.

Do you wear glasses? Progressive lenses that are fitted properly by an eye specialist, particularly when you explain to him/her that you need them for shooting pool, can do wonders for your game. The upper portion of the lens allows you to focus in on the object ball, which may be 3-9 feet away from your eyes, but the lower portion of the lens allows you to focus in on the cue ball, which will be more like 2 feet away from your eyes.

If this is happening consistently, you need to talk to your doctor. Could be blood pressure or any number of possibly serious health issues. ;)

To Pete. There are alot of people that have this same issue. Stand more upright when shooting. Do not bend the knees. Watch some old videos of the challenge matches of the old time pros to see what I mean. This will solve your problem overnight and ball pocketing will skyrocket. This is not for everyone, just for people with the issue you are having.

I'm seeing more players do this lately, it seems. Too may bad backs out there maybe?

I do it, but one problem is tending to sway just a bit, so I have to really focus on not moving during the stroke.

Definitely.

There are a number of possibilities, some mild, some quite serious. No sense in going into it here. It may not be a problem in your eyes at all.

I wouldn't mess around with it, see your doctor.
