I don't post here much, coz aiming systems generally whooosh over my head
but I'm watching bugs rucker's bank pool tape (on youtube, fyi)
wondering if/how aiming systems take ball speed into account
or is speed usually considered an independent variable?
On bank shots, higher speeds can shorten the angle of the ball off of the rail. There are many aiming systems for banks that use that. For example, on many tables if the OB is near the center line (longwise) of the table, like within a diamond of the middle, if you aim to split the difference (halfway) between the object ball and the pocket you are banking at and hit it hard, the ball will go straight in the hole.
Especially useful for banking cross side.
Most ball-pocketing systems that can apply to banking (like CTE and Poolology) don't explicitly account for banking at high speed. For those to work you need to hit a medium/soft speed so that the angle of reflection is closer to the angle of incidence. There are adjustments you can make to account for it but they are not built in to the system.
I think (I don't know many bank pool specialists) most bank pool players know how to make certain bank shots according to systems or experience and have a feel for whether or not they need to shorten or lengthen the angle and do it by instinct.
I also think that most of the time they vary the speed to adjust the angle it is for position play or to avoid impeding balls. Good bank players don't need to rely on shortening angles to make the shot easier.
