My business partner wants to get back into playing pool, he's been searching around for a new stick and also looking at home for his old cue. He stumbled upon this old cue case and thought maybe it was his old stick, instead he found this cue which he says has a Helmstetter name on it (not sure if it's a stamp for signature). He will bring the cue up to me today for me to look it over but I'm clueless really as to what it is. I'll check out the "signature" today and report back on that. For now here are the photos he sent me.

He's looking at spending a few hundred to get a new cue, wondering what he may have here and if it's worth it to have it "spruced up" possibly a new shaft (what size is it?) as the current one is knicked up a bit too much.

Or is it worth it to just purchase a new stick and put money into this one later if he chooses.

Thank you,
James

Helmstetter's were cues made in Japan by ADAM. Good cues. Can you downsize pics and show whole cue? What are they asking for it? Its probably worth 250-300 as is. Maybe 4-450 if like new.

Yeah these are the pictures he sent me, I'll snap a few others later
Go on ebay and look at Helmstetters. Give you an idea of what they tend to go for. Easy to get a cuemaker to make an extra shaft. Personally i'd spend the extra bux on a Schon.

It may or may not be worth it to your friend, but any cue repair person with a lathe can remove those nicks from the old shaft. The remaining shaft could be too thin for personal taste, but it is a common fix.
