With the 2022 event now in the books, it's time for some more updates.

• • • DCC Event Winners -- Banks, 1-Pocket, and 9-Ball • • •

The 3 disciplines or events considered here are are the ones used to determine the All-Around Champion -- 9-Ball Banks (B), 1-Pocket (1P), and 9-Ball (9B). So I am excluding things like ring games, 14.1, and the invitational 10-ball, as well as the actual All-Around Champion. The total number of events being discussed here, therefore, is 69 (23 years x 3 per year). Thirty-three players have won these events -- 18 have won a single event and 15 have accounted for the other 51 events by winning 2 or more. The winners of the 69 events are as follows:

Six players have won 2 events:
Nick Varner -- 1999 (B) and 2000 (1P)
Jose Parica -- 2001 (B) and 2003 (1P)
Larry Price -- 2002 (B) and 2008 (B)
Jason Miller -- 2004 (B) and 2006 (B)

Three players have won 3 events:
John Brumback -- 2009 (B), 2010 (B), and 2016 (B)
Ralf Souquet -- 2004 (9B), 2006 (9B), and 2008 (9B)
Billy Thorpe -- 2017 (1P), 2019 (B), and 2020 (1P)

Four players have won 4 events:

Of the 15 multiple-event winners:

Here's a list of the Derby City Classic's All-Around Champions each year, showing how they placed in each of the 3 main (points) events. The placements for each player are for Banks first, 1-Pocket second, and 9-Ball third. A number like 18/26 means the player finished in a 9-way tie for 18th through 26th place.

1999 ... Efren Reyes -- 3, 1, 2
2000 ... Dee Adkins -- 4/5, 18/26, 2
2001 ... Shannon Daulton -- 5/6, 5/8, 1
2002 ... Jose Parica -- 7/9, 2, 7/10
2003 ... Larry Nevel -- 3/4, 2, 20/33
2004 ... Reyes -- 62/100, 1, 2
2005 ... Reyes -- 13/19, 1, 1
2006 ... Jason Miller -- 1, 2, 15/24
2007 ... Reyes -- 2, 1, 42/62
2008 ... Francisco Bustamante -- 7/8, 3, 2
2009 ... John Brumback -- 1, 10/15, 10/14
2010 ... Reyes -- 2, 20/34, 1
2011 ... Shane Van Boening -- low (lost in Round 2; did not buy back), 1, 2
2012 ... Van Boening -- 2, 1, 1
2013 ... Bustamante -- 1, 2, 6/7
2014 ... Dennis Orcollo -- 1, 4/5, 4/5
2015 ... Alex Pagulayan -- 13/20, 1, 2
2016 ... Pagulayan -- 12/19, 1, 2
2017 ... Orcollo -- 11/14, 3, 1
2018 ... Bustamante -- 4/6, 1, 14/19
2019 ... Skyler Woodward -- 3/4, 10/15, 1
2020 ... Orcollo -- 1, 16/24, 3/4
2022 ... Gorst -- 1, 1, 17/21

So in the 23 years of the DCC, 13 different players have become All-Around Champion. Five of those 13 have won it more than once. Here's the list.

Eight players have won once:
Dee Adkins -- 2000
Shannon Daulton 2001
Jose Parica -- 2002
Larry Nevel -- 2003

Two players have won three times:
Francisco Bustamante -- 2008, 2013, and 2018
Dennis Orcollo -- 2014, 2017, and 2020

One player has won five times:
Efren Reyes -- 1999, 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2010

In four years, the All-Around Champion did not win any of the 3 events on which the award is based -- Adkins (2000), Parica (2002), Nevel (2003), and Bustamante (2008). In the other 19 years, the All-Around Champion did win at least one of the 3 primary events.

I think its worth mentioning that SVB is the only player to have nearly swept the whole DCC event with the finishing of 1, 1, and 2nd. No other player has come that close to sweeping the DCC event.

Yes -- Van Boening, Reyes, and Gorst are the only ones to win two of the three MOT events in the same year, and SVB was closest to winning the 3rd event. As shown in post #86, SVB was 2nd in his other event, Reyes was 13th/19th, and Gorst was 17th/21st.

• • • DCC All-Around Champion (Master of the Table) • • •

Here's a list of the Derby City Classic's All-Around Champions each year, showing how they placed in each of the 3 main (points) events. The placements for each player are for Banks first, 1-Pocket second, and 9-Ball third. A number like 18/26 means the player finished in a 9-way tie for 18th through 26th place.

1999 ... Efren Reyes -- 3, 1, 2
2000 ... Dee Adkins -- 4/5, 18/26, 2
2001 ... Shannon Daulton -- 5/6, 5/8, 1
2002 ... Jose Parica -- 7/9, 2, 7/10
2003 ... Larry Nevel -- 3/4, 2, 20/33
2004 ... Reyes -- 62/100, 1, 2
2005 ... Reyes -- 13/19, 1, 1
2006 ... Jason Miller -- 1, 2, 15/24
2007 ... Reyes -- 2, 1, 42/62
2008 ... Francisco Bustamante -- 7/8, 3, 2
2009 ... John Brumback -- 1, 10/15, 10/14
2010 ... Reyes -- 2, 20/34, 1
2011 ... Shane Van Boening -- low (lost in Round 2; did not buy back), 1, 2
2012 ... Van Boening -- 2, 1, 1
2013 ... Bustamante -- 1, 2, 6/7
2014 ... Dennis Orcollo -- 1, 4/5, 4/5
2015 ... Alex Pagulayan -- 13/20, 1, 2
2016 ... Pagulayan -- 12/19, 1, 2
2017 ... Orcollo -- 11/14, 3, 1
2018 ... Bustamante -- 4/6, 1, 14/19
2019 ... Skyler Woodward -- 3/4, 10/15, 1
2020 ... Orcollo -- 1, 16/24, 3/4
2022 ... Gorst -- 1, 1, 17/21
2023 ... Gorst -- 1, 46/68, 1
2024 ... Filler -- 1, 3, 1

So in the 25 years of the DCC, 14 different players have become All-Around Champion. Six of those 14 have won it more than once. Here's the list.

Eight players have won once:
Dee Adkins -- 2000
Shannon Daulton 2001
Jose Parica -- 2002
Larry Nevel -- 2003
Jason Miller -- 2006
John Brumback -- 2009
Skyler Woodward -- 2019
Joshua Filler -- 2024

Three players have won twice:
Shane Van Boeniing -- 2011 and 2012
Alex Pagulayan -- 2015 and 2016
Fedor Gorst -- 2022 and 2023

Two players have won three times:
Francisco Bustamante -- 2008, 2013, and 2018
Dennis Orcollo -- 2014, 2017, and 2020

One player has won five times:
Efren Reyes -- 1999, 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2010

In four years, the All-Around Champion did not win any of the 3 events on which the award is based -- Adkins (2000), Parica (2002), Nevel (2003), and Bustamante (2008). In sixteen years, the All-Around Champion won 1 of the primary events, and in the other 5 years he won 2 of the 3 primary events.

Note that Filler's 1st, 3rd, 1st finishes this year put him second only to SVB's 2nd, 1st, 1st in 2012.

[And Filler gets extra credit for 1st in the 10-Ball Challenge this year, which SVB did not accomplish in 2012.]
