I was just going through an AZB search of Dayton cues. And I went through the archive on his web site. Really cool cues. The man knew his wood and knew his craft. Perhaps underappreciated.
Great cue maker. Perhaps some of you will see fit to show off some Dayton cues in this thread in recognition and memorial.
Here is mine. Sorry bad pics. I am no photographer and only use my cell phone. Ebony into figured maple, veneers, real ivory diamonds and dashes, matching JPs. Piloted 14 pin, classic. Excellent shaft wood, of course.
Cue was done when he was still doing "hand work" for inlays.
Aesthetically some may not like the gap between the points. Some may feel the points are short-ish. I dig the cue just the way it is. The way Paul Dayton made it. I think the balance and proportions of the design are quite nice.
Case is genuine elephant. I have thought to have this cue re-wrapped with black elephant ear. I think the cue and case pair nicely.
Classy look I think.
This cue does get played. Yes, it plays excellent. Thank you Paul Dayton for making this cue. You live on in your work. Rest In Peace.
