It's always painful to lose a favorite, but especially so when you've looked up to someone for most of your life. I followed Steve religiously ever since first seeing him walk into pool rooms in Woodbridge, Perth Amboy, and Metuchen NJ as a teen-ager. He was only two years older than I, which made it especially exciting to see him carve his way upward in the pool world, even from overseas in the service.

Steve never let anyone down that I heard of. He was the kind of person who, in retrospect, I would still choose as a role model. He lived his life the way a life should be lived. He was larger than life, but still a regular, approachable guy.

Deepest condolences to his family from just another Jersey guy, who will think of him and miss him.
