This is my notice to all that I have officially retired. Maybe it will be a

partial retirement, meaning that I may still help out during league play, but

my pool tourny time has ended (for now). I am just unable to get back

to the level that I feel that I should be at. I strongly feel that my weight

gain has alot to do with not being able to get my stroke down. So I will

return once I either lose approx. 100 pounds (another person) or some

how learn to play like god. Once I shed the pounds and get back to being

more consistant with my game I shall return to the Wonderful World of

Pool!! My last retirement lasted 10 years, but I hope it doesn't take

10 years to get my weight and game in order. Untill then - -Good luck to

all and as always hit 'em straight!!

Oh, GroudnHogg, I was afraid you were gonna do something like this based on our recent conversations. I know this is never easy to announce or to decide, and I support your decision 100%, but please know you will be missed at the tourneys. Please at least join us still on AZB and the streams though so we can all keep in touch with you.

Take care my friend,
Melinda

If you remember, I made a similar post back last Decmeber. I was not happy with the way I was playing and was having some health issues. I ws in general depressed about life and blamed a lot of it on pool.

The fact is the game has nothing to do with it, it was MY attuitude toward the game and some faulty expectations. I was having trouble with the fact that I was 57 and not 37 or even 47 anymore and was looking for something to glame.

Well, I had the surgery in January and went through am amputation of my little toe. I had let Diabetes get so out of control that it prevented the natural healing process and I darn near lost my leg due to sheer stubborness.

My point is that the whole incident probably saved my life. I have since lost about 25 punds more and feel better that I have in years and years. I'm lucky to be here. I scared the hell out of my family and my wife.

Jacob, don't get down on the game, don't get down on yourself. You are a younga man yet with many, many good years left and your best pool is in front of you. {Remember our match in AMarillo, my toughest one and I got pretty lucky}.

Take care of yourself and shed some of the weight. Just make up your mind and do it. The depression will melt away as the punds do. Easy, hell no, it isn't easy and it isn't supposed to be. Make up your mind,,,,,AND JUST DO IT AND DO IT FOR YOU AND THOSE WHO CARE ABOUT YOU!!

If there is ANYTHING I can do, you know how to reach me.

DO IT, I promise you, it will feel good.

Take care my friend,
Lewis

PS. Melinda is in your corner too!!
