Here are some stats from the single-elimination portion of the 2019 World 14.1 Tournament played December 5-7 at 9 Ball Heaven Sports Grill & Billiards in Jacksonville, FL. Pay-per-view streaming was provided by Xstream Pool through audiovideoweb. Shane Van Boening defeated Corey Deuel in the final match to win his 1st title in this event.

The stats are for the 9 matches on the main streaming table for this portion of the event, and they represented 64% of the total of 14 matches played in this portion of the event. Matches numbered 1-4 below, from the round of 16 players, were played on Thursday, Dec. 5. Matches numbered 5-8 below, quarterfinal and semifinal matches, were played on Friday, Dec. 6. The Finals were played on Saturday, Dec. 7. The Finals match was to 300 points, the others were all to 200 points.

This portion of the event was preceded by a group stage (5 groups of 6 players), with round-robin play in each group. Fifteen players, 3 from each group, advanced to the single-elimination stage and were seeded based on their results in the group stage. With the best results from the group stage, Thorsten Hohmann received a bye in the first single-elimination round.

The conditions for this event included:
- Diamond 9-foot table with what seemed to be normal pro-cut pockets;
- blue (Simonis?) cloth;
- Aramith (?) balls with a measles cue ball;
- triangle rack;
- rack your own;
- foul on all balls;
- lag for opening break.​

Attempted Scoring Innings means the player's total number of innings for the game minus the number of innings that he played only a safety or an intentional foul (no attempt to score a point).

PPI is Points per Inning based on the total number of innings in the game for that player. [Note: I call this measure Points per Inning rather than Balls per Inning to be a bit more precise in the definition, since the number of points a player is credited with in a game can be quite different from the number of balls he pocketed.]

PPASI is Points per Attempted Scoring Inning, i.e., points per inning based on the number of Attempted Scoring Innings in the game for that player, i.e., his or her total points scored in the game divided by his or her number of Attempted Scoring Innings.

All information is given first for the match winner and then for the match loser (separated by a comma).

Shane Van Boening defeated Corey Deuel 300 - 174 in the final match of the 2019 World 14.1 event this afternoon. Here is how the game went, inning by inning.

Scores in brackets are for Van Boening (V) first (since he shot the opening break), then Deuel (D), and are shown as of the end of a player's inning if the score changed in that inning. References to "left" and "right" sides of the table are as the player looks from the head of the table to the foot.

V1 (Van Boening's inning #1) -- opening safety break from right side, leaving the 13-ball out to the right of the rack.
D1 -- safe

V2 -- safe
D2 -- safe

V3 -- safe
D3 -- intentional foul [0 - (-1)]

V4 -- intentional foul [(-1) - (-1)]
D4 -- intentional foul [(-1) - (-2)]

V5 -- started with a combo cross-corner bank behind the pile to the right foot pocket, ran 89, then missed a long 7-ball to the left head pocket. [88 - (-2)]
D5 -- ran 38, then missed a long, straight 13-ball to the left head pocket. [88 - 36]

V6 -- ran 11, then missed the 9-ball up the right side rail to the right head pocket. [99 - 36]
D6 -- ran 9, then missed a behind-the-rack secondary break shot on the 9-ball to the right foot pocket. [99 - 45]

V7 -- ran 35, then fouled on a pocket scratch in the right foot pocket making the break ball in the same pocket. [133 - 45]
D7 -- ran 85, got stuck on the pile with the break shot, and played safe. [133 - 130]

Someone on stream said the entry fee was $600. The advertising for qualifiers said "Winner gets Free $580 Entry to the World 14.1 JAX! Including tickets all week and ticket to the Hall of Fame Banquet." So I'm not sure how much the 30 entrants paid in total. But it looks like the prize fund exceeded the entry fees by about $5000 or a bit more.

Reading this has made me change my position on this long run discussion. A 526 or 626 is amazing in itself, but anything in an exhibition format needs an asterisk next to it. I have seen the light. I’ve never seen a 14.1 tournament that goes to over 300 balls so a 627 is virtually impossible, but a 300 when gambling or in a tournament when you can’t re-rack and there’s a guy waiting to put a 300 on you if you miss just seems more important and newsworthy. That being said I still look forward to buying the Schmidt video when it’s available, it’s a hell of a run.

In addition to the prize money shown above, high-run prizes were paid in at least some of the years.

Two mysteries:
1. 2012 -- Under the AzB records for each of the players finishing in the top 24, there are two different entries for this event (with slightly different names for the event), with two different lists of the payouts -- one paying 32 places and totaling $52,000, and the other paying 24 places and totaling $44,000.

2. 2017 -- Prizes are not listed in the AzB database nor in either Pool & Billiard Magazine or Billiards Digest. A commentator mentioned the prizes for positions 1-4 on air.
