They have one scheduled at a pool room in Louisville. I don't know the exact date yet.
That was at the 2014 DCC, so Skyler was 20. Quite a few observers called it the best such event they had ever seen. Here's what one fairly experienced guy had to say:
- "Scott Frost and i did the commentary on the Ring Bank game. I have to honestly say that that was the best played Ring Game ever, and I have broadcast every one. That was absolutely the best banking I have ever seen -- by all the contestants -- in my whole career. Bustamonte played fabulous and lost! Skylar Woodward , who I predicted would not be able to stand up to Busty in the finals completely proved me wrong. Busty did everything that I figured he would do and applied extreme pressure with a devastating series of bank barrages -- but it was not enough! This young kid (20 yrs old?) shot the paint off of the balls and put on maybe the best bank performance that I have ever seen.
Mark my words, he will soon be the best bank pool player in the world.

From rack 7 to the end, the two of them took 59 shots and made 42 of them (71%)!

Would you travel to another city, arrange accommodation, and enter a tournament with that risk hanging over your head?
Maybe Gorst makes it to the finals and then the opponent has someone anonymously tip off the venue to get him thrown out, and win by default :grin:
lol, from what've I've observed, over the course of many DCCs, is that things are pretty loose at this event.
And stuff you wouldn't think would happen, or is even explicitly prohibited, do. But who knows? Maybe this will be the year when everything changes.

Mostly, I don't know or care about the age of any of the guys I play. And pool players, being the egalitarian lot they are, probably wouldn't care. Besides, it's not league play

The casino was on the "boat." It's a boat that goes nowhere and is constantly docked. This, somehow, separated the casino from the convention center where the tournament was held. Now, the laws have been changed and the casino has been moved to dry land, and in so doing is attached to the convention center where the tournament is being held. So now, miraculously, the laws about all patrons being age 21 or older are in effect for the entire complex. It's all a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo that is prevalent in our society today.

I think more likely a rail better than a competitor but it isn't totally far-fetched for somebody to report a competitor's age if things aren't going their way. I have heard many a complaint about a competitor's age when it offered no advantage and wasn't illegal but the competitor was a winner! Always some that try to legislate victories. These are the same people that sandbag in other areas of competition.
My opinion, they will crack down on underage competitors at the DCC. Maybe not this year but people playing illegally will always be waiting for the other shoe to drop. Not worth it in my opinion. A shame though, there should be a competitor's and exhibitor's exemption but the state would have to pass that I believe, perhaps the governor could issue an executive order?

Perfectly stated. Exactly what has happened. Moving the casino brought all of the now Caesars complex under IGC rules. Too bad they don't do what Vegas does. There you have to be 21 in the casino proper but they can go in tournament rooms, restaurants, convention space, etc. with supervision.
Another issue with all this was it was announced there would be a junior tournament on the last weekend.
Many families around the country started making plans with flights and hotels including my own with my son. Spent some time explaining the DCC and then to be told no jr tourney. Then told it will be offsite which is a waste for us. Then told he can go and participate but with restrictions..... and now, no one under 21 allowed.

Anybody who has been to DCC and went to the gambling boat knows they have gates and card. I expect the same this year except with no access to the entire building without ID. That's how it his here.
So far there is no room available for the Hall of Fame Dinner. Unless something changes that is cancelled.
No Action award again this year.
No 14:1 challenge
They seem to have tried to fix the too many bank entries by jacking the bank entry from 110.00 to 160.00.. And they doubled the buy back from 50 to 100.00...lol Thanks from all us bank players DCC..
One Pocket went up from 135 to 160 entry- 75.00 to 100 for the buy back .
9 ball stayed the same at 160-100
Oh, if you want to bring the wifey or hubby it will cost you 50 for a spouse card...
On a speculatory note... things i expect to see this year besides increased prices...
Less pool tables. No more action room during tournament hours like last year:angry::angry: Slot machines scattered around up stairs. Also wonder if Ray will have his Action room this year.

I think there will actually be four more pool tables than last year for the main tournaments since the 14.1 will not be using the space.
There isn’t! Only one place has 3-9 ft diamonds. I think 12-14 bar tables. It’s the only room I can see handling this. Unfortunately...

It was only a matter of time until they made the entry fee for all the tournaments the same. I don't remember if they even had straight pool this year. With so many side events using the accu staats arena, there is no time for the 14.1 to have their semi and finals there. The way I see it, you can have the 10 ball event or the 14.1 event, you really can't do both. Its like cramming 20 pool balls into a 15ball rack. It doesn't work.
I remember when it was at the Executive West and I would love for it to move there now assuming the renovations made years ago allow for the space they need. This way it would guarantee the under age players can play.

IIRC they didn't have 14.1 last year. The old EW is now a Crowne Plaza and i just don't see them hosting a pool tournament. The EW was kinda on its way out when DCC first started and the price was right. Not even recognize it if you walked in now.
I am taking a guess, hence why I said probably. We won't know for sure until next month.
The Junior derby event will be held at the Louisville Billiard Club. Once I get more info I will post here.
