tickets go on sale tomorrow. Three price groups 160, 240,950. Thinking of buying middle group. Anyone gone???? Suggestions. It just 80 more than the lowest groups. VIP costs a lot more. Is it worth it? From a viewing point of view.

My brother traveled from Palm Springs to Washington, D.C., one Thanksgiving Day, a few years ago, and there was hardly anybody in the airports. He said it was smooth sailing for him. The holiday day itself is sometimes not as bad as the day before and the day after, I think.

Correct! The lightest travel days of the year are major holidays; i.e. Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, July 4th, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day. I've often flown on just those days.

So I bought mine today from the pre-sale but what a pain in the arse!

First, the website said they would go on sale "mid day" Mid day where? England? Here?

So I got up at 5:30 am Chicago time- mid day England time, and looked, no email. So I called Matchroom, mid day our time.

I see the tickets are coming from AXS so I go to their website and make sure my password is correct, it is, I am logged in. Great.

Noon comes, I click the link in the email, I go to buy my tickets aaaaaand it wants a password. So I enter mine, NOPE. WTF!!!!

I have a client waiting because I thought it would be quick. I call AXS, get put on hold, after 20 minutes I hand the phone off to my shop manager, she sits on hold and gets transferred around for another 45 minutes, finally we get an answer- when it asks for a password it SHOULD be asking for the promotional code. So I enter the promo code and I am done almost 2 hours later.

The holidays may be light travel days, but...… we will not be traveling on those days. We will be traveling on very heavily traveled day, The days leading up to thanksgiving and just after. I will probably arrive Sunday and come home Friday.

Done. Seat location looks good. Hope to see some of you. It looks like the hotel will not be taking reservations for another month. They are only taking reservations up until next October. I looked at hotels that are booking for that time period. They range in price from $400 to $1200.
Anyone know what the Mandalay will cost? I am not interested in the casino. I do like to go to the top resturants. I have eaten the some of the best places in vegas.

More hotels will become available when it gets closer to the date. I did Mandalay Bay last time with credit card miles, they still hit you with a $30 a day resort fee, what a rip off.

Here is some research I posted in the other thread....

Off season. The hotels are already booking for then. Mandalay Bay claims to be sold out, but the hotels/motels along Tropicana are coming in at $140 to $275 for four nights before tax and the extra-special customer dissatisfaction fees. The Day's Inn on Tropicana is $231 total for four nights all fees and taxes included and with free cancellation. The same at the Tropicana is $526 but cheaper if non-refundable. That was through booking.com but there may be cheaper sites such as the hotel site itself.

In my experience it is cheap to fly on Thanksgiving. The Friday after, I'm not sure, but I would expect it to be low. Who on Earth would spend Thanksgiving in Las Vegas and fly home the next day?

The 2018 event did so well that the prize fund is being raised by 50%. Here's part of the Matchroom press release:

RECORD FIGURES MAKE 2018 THE MOST SUCCESSFUL YEAR EVER FOR PARTYPOKER MOSCONI CUP

USA’s dramatic partypoker Mosconi Cup victory was witnessed by record viewers around the world and the highest live gate in the tournament’s history with close to 2,500 fans packed into Alexandra Palace, London each night as America defeated Europe 11-9 to win back the famous trophy.

Shown live by networks in over 130 countries worldwide, the drama of the 2018 partypoker Mosconi Cup was enjoyed by viewers across the globe. In USA, Central and South America and on the Indian Subcontinent the tournament’s partnership with Facebook meant fans were able to enjoy a free live stream, which was seen by over 2million people. The continued growth of pool’s biggest tournament was further evidenced online, where the partypoker Mosconi Cup’s digital footprint continued to expand, reaching and engaging with more fans than ever before.

Already, tickets for the 2019 partypoker Mosconi Cup - to take place at Mandalay Bay Resort, Las Vegas from November 25-28 - have seen their highest ever opening-week sales, with Gold seating sold out. As a result, there will be an increase in both win and appearance fees for the 2019 partypoker Mosconi Cup with both winners’ and runners-up prize money increased by 50%.

Emily Frazer, Chief Operation Officer of promoters Matchroom Multi Sport, said: “After our most successful and entertaining year at the partypoker Mosconi Cup, it only felt right to reward the players with an increase in prize money by 50%.

That means each member of the team who wins pockets $30,000, with the runners-up pocketing $15,000 each. Wow!

The only way pool is going to get money is to have an audience of people who mostly don't play (much) pool. This event has an audience.

I see that the Gold seats are sold out already with 11 months to go. I think that means that a lot of Europeans will be there again.:shocked2:
