Can my original Gold Crown 1 bumpers, almost 50 years old, still be good?

They seem to hit true, but 50 year old rubber????

Well me personally, I'd ditch the 50 yr old rubber and get new. I guess I wouldn't want a new bunch of little Gold Crowns with mouths to feed! Never trust old rubbers!

I have a GC1 with original rubber and it play perfect. Its 47 year old rubber. I would not think about replacing it unless it had issues.

Thanks for the comments. My table mechanic looked at the rails and thinks they look good so for now I'm good to go.

I did read the long thread, 161 post, on gold crown rubber cushions and got a good education. If you are ever looking to replace your rubber on your GC you should read that thread.

Absolutely not! If there's one rule I live by it's never use a 45 year old rubber.

I just had Jack Shurtz install my GC1, the rubber was original and in fair condition for being that old, but there were

firm spots beginning to form and he replaced them. You will not get another 50 years out of them, so why try. If the table is apart and getting new felt

just pony up and replace the rails.
