I guess it would depend on what your gonna do with it. There are actually 3 sizes.
Mr. Kohara, Mr. Manzino and of course Mr. Martinez. In no particular order below.

Why do these "individuals" also not have ear hoops, pink hair and lip bones?

The flat minor pins in "standard" sizes have made all the hardware store and designer pins obsolete. Trouble is some extremely talented cue builders haven't gotten the memo yet. Like the headless chicken that doesn't realize it's dead.

There's some merit to that.
Let's not forget. The flat bottom pin aided in the oversized taps that were already in the Industry.

Here is the difference between the HXT shaft and butt and the back up shaft, which is on the left... I don't believe it matters but, It made me wonder about stability. There is a place for the piloted insert made into the Butt of the HXT for a reason...
