you want that tip to conform just a lil on the ball for masse and pique and anytime you elevate the cue

an experiment you can do is take a spray paint can, and jab down on it with an pencil eraser, itll make that can spin
try doing the same thing with the end of a pin, it just pushes it away

I asked a similar question and was told to use a soft tip for straight rail. I used Elkmaster for a while but went back to using a Le pro tip. I went back to using a le pro tip because the elk masters tend to lose the shape fairly quickly and get flat. I also like the feel of the le pro. I have heard people say good things of the Kamui soft tips.

I'm not sure if you're going to find a direct answer. I'm known players using every hardness. Water Buffalo to Elkmaster. And everything between.

I sometimes thing peer pressure and marketing made me move to a med hard tip from very hard for 3Cushion. The small games I haven't played enough for any opinion.

when i started getting cues for the classic games, ron put on a soft moori
i loved it and still do, but they are 20 bucks

now starkey gave me a shaft with a 5 dollar soft sib which was pretty good

still not the nicest feel of the moori but a great layered tip for the money
i have a few ultra skin very softs but havent used them yet, another good layered cheap tip
what i like the most now is the longoni da vinci tip, in soft, its about 12 bucks

i still havnet changed the da vinci tip in many months and its at its most hard and compact state and i can still do the masse and pique just fine

so the soft even when hardened up after many months of hits still does fine

find what feels nice to you and stick with it

i even bought some triangles to see whats the rage, hope i got a good one out of the bunch, im planning on putting one on a spare shaft and checking it out
bout a buck a peice but already medium and probably gonna get pretty hard

i decided to give triangles a try with all the reccomendations

can be as low as 1 dollar a piece on ozone billiards

i dig it, simple, cheap af and just does the job, no hype, 1 piece
im putting one on at this moment

box cutter razor blade, super glue, tip, and tip shaper, last 4ever tip tool, the best
wont be pretty, but itll still hit a ball


im just not ready to spend 500 on a lathe to put on 1 dollar tips for myself

Hes got this rubber dealy to hold the tip on while the gel glue sets

But i use krazy glue, regular super glue, put the tip on
Then press the shaft into the ground for 20seconds or so and it sets like that for me ready to cut very quick
