They are playing one ball one pocket it's basically just like playing regular one pocket but you start the game with only one ball on the table, whoever makes that ball in their pocket wins.

The breaker picks his pocket the ball starts off frozen on the bottom rail in the middle and the breaker can't shoot at his hole 1st shot.

Cool. Thanks for the clarification. I've never heard of that game before. I guess you better be a great banker to win at that game!

So the ball starts at center diamond on the bottom rail.. you indicate which
is your hole, and break for safety the first shot? Trying to get the details
so I can try this game... anything else different?

Sounds like the end game of 1P where there's one ball left, with all
the safes until someone sells out a bank or shot.

Yes you've got it pretty much....and I've seen where the breaker has ball in hand behind the head string for the first shot....and I've seen it played where the cue ball must be frozen to the short rail on the middle diamond behind the head string for the first shot.

Check out Max and Spanish Danny playing at the SBE, that’s where I first really watched it. It’s a cool game for sure.

Thanks Terry!.. I've played 3 ball 1P.. long time ago, but never 1 ball,
going to try some tonight. The break seems to be the difference.. CB
froze on back rail, BIH in the kitchen, or on the spot.

I also remember 9 ball 1P, with the two rail break.. if you hit the back ball
right, you can make it in your hole.

Thanks KC & Jazzy... I'll check out that SBE video!

The break isn't that big, as one cannot shoot for his hole. Obviously, you don't want to sell out from the break, but to me, the most important aspects are speed and knowing how to miss on the pro-side.

And cb on the end rail...
And don't scratch.

Back in the 1980's, this game was played with the nine ball only and was known as back pocket nine ball. Jimmy Fusco, RIP, may well have been the best at this game.
