is matchroom picking the american team?

Im gonna safely assume YES due to the lack of the point races for the Cup we see every year. Not to mention BB kinda screwed up things with its conflicting schedule for BCA Point events. What a turd in a punch bowl eh??

Yeah Im pretty sure its on Match Room to chose the team this year and tbh... I think they should chose it every year since they are the major sponsors involved in it. The best team in my eyes would be:

Earl
JA
Hatch
SVB
Dechaine
Nick Varner (Captian)

Say what you want about MD but Ive seen him run pack after pack and make some pretty sporty shots under pressure. Now that he isnt a rookie anymore I think he knows what to expect and will perform better if elected to play. Either way.....

LET GO USA!!!!!!!!!! :woot:

A while ago JAM pulled a fatboy and said she knew of a member on this year's team but wasn't saying.
Probably was earl, but at the time something made me think it was dennis hatch.
Like he posted something on FB, or she mentioned him in another thread saying
he had some big news... something like that.

Think we're looking at Earl, JJ, Hatch, SVB and... mystery youth? Landon?

TCOM was in 1986 by time the 90s rolled around it was long forgotten . I agree with marketing tactics however that's mass advertising that takes millions just to get that ball rolling , who's putting up that cash of course you have to have a product that will carry its weight , pool has yet to prove it can do that to the level the pipe dreamers believe it should be at

When's the last time you saw a bowling commercial yet they have a pretty good tour and can be seen quite regular on TV ,
At the end of the day if pool can be anywhere near that it would be doing something
IMHO however there are those that really hit the pipe that believe they are in the class of golf to them I say smoke another one ain't happening

Rodney Morris has been playing well for months now. He deserves a spot on the team.

One person who really surprised me with his leadership ability is Scott Frost. I bet he'd make a great captain for the Mosconi cup team one day.

maybe if he had Dippy, as his assistant, and they could both drive together in the black chevy tahoe, with all the missing casino chips, and he isn't in charge of holding/distributing the back-paychecks....

my sterling record

So does this mean you've been chosen as team captain again? I must have missed that (not unusual, as I don't read every day...and sometimes miss a week or two). No matter...good luck to all the US Mosconi Cup team members!

huh, I did not see that and I looked at his page twice,..guess the eyes are going :( he got a lot of likes for that post lol

He is also on my 9 ball team at Amsterdam Billiards. During our league match last night I asked him if it was true and he said it was. It's cool in my book

Was this at Steinway? I was hoping Earl would be in NYC this week as my wife and I are visiting NYC this week. Was hoping to stop in and see Earl matching up with somebody

It was at Amsterdam Billiards in the 9 ball league. I would assume that he is in town this week and most of the time he is at Steinway. The team he plays on is scheduled to have a league match on Thursday night at Amsterdam Billiards, so he may well be there for that.

Enjoy your time in New York.

Hi Trevor, I must say it was fun to watch, LMAO!

However, Earl did did tell me last night that he is playing on the USA team this year.

I bet it was fun to watch Ron! Ha ha.
Watching me dog the hell out of the match, in between me sitting in my chair sweating, as Earl won rack after rack.
To be honest though, I have to say although I played like a complete chimp it was an honour to play him and next time I wont be so nervous.
I might even win two racks!

Really, thats cool! how does that league work?

It'd a Pro/Am league. Handicapped from the D all the way to the Pro Level. Basically if Earl had to play a D, Earl would be spotting them 9 games on 11.

It's a weekly league. We have winter, Spring, Summer and Fall session each year. Amsterdam Billiards usually puts the prize money at about $15,000 per session. A few times they bumped it up to $26,000 per session.

It's a pretty competitive league. You have Earl, Mika, Tony Robles to name a few in the league. I know I enjoy it. The only thing that was weird to me when I first joined is that we play 9 BALL on the 9 foot tables and qualify to go to the BCA championships to play 8 BALL on bar box. LOL

You can check out all the different leagues that are run out of there. http://leagues.amsterdambilliards.com/

Have a good one!

Earl is best suited for the Mosconi Cup. Love him or hate him... when there's the precursor of a riot brewing in the arena and there's one of our own over the game-winning ball, I hope he's shooting.

I know if he makes it he's gonna high-jump onto the table, pump his fist and scream YEAAAAHHHHH!!! YEAHHHHH!!!!!!
