Have Meucci quality improved?

Thinking about buying a Meucci casino cue because I just like the look, but I've heard Meucci isn't like what it used to be and has quality issues. Is this still the case?

I have several Meucci cues and extra shafts and I have yet to have even so much as a slight problem with them all. The butts are beautifully done and well balanced. The shafts are all they're advertised to be. The Black Dot has a harder hit and the UW and Red Dot shafts hit softer. They all roll straight.

It's always been a pleasure ordering from Budget Cues. I've won a lot of money with my Meucci's and they've never let me down!

I've heard about quality issues in the past, but I've not seen any issues in any that I've bought or sold.

the best cues Meucci made was before 1990 when they had Meucci Original on the butt. After 1990 they went down hill on quality. Heard the quality was getting better recently, but not really sure.

Meucci is bottom of barrell

I'd buy a Players or any of the other 10,000 types of cues available before I bought a Meucci. In my area, Meucci is probably the most owned brand of cue. No one has ever heard of most cue builders. It has made me despise them over the years. Rounded points and cheap Chinese crap is what I see when I look at them.

So I know the Meucci fan club is gonna year me a new one but there will NEVER be stinking Meucci in my JB Case.

I guess they've gotten better. All the major distributors that were refusing to carry them because of poor quality our carrying them again... I still would rather find a pre 1990 cue and have it refinished if it was in poor condition then buy the new cues. I seem to remember someone who works on cues telling me that the post 1990 gambler cues butt was plastic and not wood lol if that matters to you I don't know.

I am sure that you realize that your JB case is made in China with cheap Chinese labor.

The quality is 100% but that still doesn't take away from the fact that they are made with
cheap labor.

I bought a PP 1 on EBay for $180. I use it the majority of the time. Never an issue with it and I wouldn't sell it.

A Meucci built today has less quality issues than the Meuccis built in the 90's, IMO.

The optional 3/8th-10 pin makes that version of Meucci a perfect cue for many players.

I bought two used Meucci cues this year. One I had rebuilt (broken joint after a cue vs fan incident) and the other I've kept as is. The one I kept as is plays just like any other Meucci, which I've always loved. It's the falling apart of the Meuccis I didn't like.

I finally got to hit one of the new ones with the big pin. It seemed pretty good to me, the quality of the workmanship looked better than in recent years. If I had a lot of disposable income, I'd probably buy one. They are a bit pricey, though. I think the one I hit was $800.

my simple rule of thumb is if it has the beautiful cursive Meucci logo, avoid it like the plague.

If it says Meucci Originals in small block letters, it was made to a much higher quality standard.

I've seen too many nightmares with the newer logo cues and have been jerked around enough with their horrific customer service to know they will never have my confidence or business again.

Do yourself a favor and buy a pechauer or schon cue.

In the many polls that have been done here on az, these two brands consistently win top honors as best production cue brands.

best,

Meucciman here on AZ had 242 Meucci's last count, and that was over a year ago.
He is Bob Meucci's nephew, and thinks Meucci cues are great.
Another relative got on here and said that Meucci's quality control was crap.

I'll go with the guy that has 242 Meucci's, because you gotta love a guy who has 242 Meucci's><

If you are going to spend over $400 there are quite a few cues out there that I would look at for sure.

I had them build me one of their Meucci jump / break cues and I was very satisfied with the quality. It took a few months to arrive, but I think it was worth it.

People often forget that Meucci is a custom cue and not a production cue. It takes time to build a cue.
