Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

I'll say it again, the CP means nada, squat, Jack, zero, nil, and completely unnecessary for pivoting purposes. I'm starting to feel like John Cleese trying to return a dead parrot. The CP does have beautiful plumage for other styles of shooting though.

I didn't get into the details of your pivot triangle method. If that method makes use of a line from the pocket through the object ball then I think we're talking about the same thing. I think the words "contact point" might be a matter of semantics. If your PT uses the angle between the pocket, ob and cb and then makes some adjustments to put the cue on the shot line then we are pretty much talking about the same thing, which I can live with.

And now for something completely different... these guys have nothing on these aiming forums:

No one has to trust me for anything. It is all on me to present what I have asserted to true. I will do clinic/demo explanations, youtube and text.

Be careful what you wish for.

Stan, the amazing thing after all this time is you still think there is some personal vendetta against you. What is my motivation for not wanting CTE to work the way you say it does? There's just no motive. My beef with all this is that in the pursuit of some real answers and not just bs claptrap from a number of people around here, the skeptics get branded as deniers with some kind of agenda. If you put out a book that tells all and proves that there really is an objective aiming system out there, I'd be very happy for you. I've made my conclusions based on the evidence, or lack thereof, but if you present something new I'm all for it.

BASIC CTE PIVOTS (as taught by Hal Houle):

For thick cuts: Your cue is parallel to the CTEL with your tip pointing at the outside edge of the CB (the edge of the CB that’s farthest from the pocket). You then pivot your tip towards the pocket until it reaches CB center.

For thin cuts: Your cue is parallel to the CTEL with your tip pointing at the inside edge of the CB (the side of the CB that’s closest to the pocket). You then pivot your tip away from the pocket until it reaches CB center.

Quote was taken from http://billiards.colostate.edu/threads/aiming.html#CTE

The part in bold is what determines the CP. Objective or subjective? I don't really care what the answer is, works for me.
