1. I thought the field was full until some last minute cancellations due to some visa problems. that brought the field down to 149 players. But why over 100 bye's in the first round?

2. what are the field sizes again utilizing this bracket system...128, 167, ???...I always thought with the field size, the TD would move up to the next highest bracket and that would limit the first round bye's.

3. do you see the system incorporated during the world championships with the group stage round robin that leads to the smaller bracket as more superior?

Once the entries exceed 128, the format goes to a 256 draw sheet.....
...therefore, 149 entries means 107 byes.

The system works fine....just a little paperwork.
