Contrast in strategy by both captains
Team Europe putting out their top 2- Filler and Shaw for singles on Day 1 while Team USA are leaving out Shane and Skyler
Lots of tough talk and barking by both sides in Press conference. Filler says Shane is weakest player on Team USA while Shane says all the Euros are weak.

I can see the U.S. Team taking 3-4 matches.

Oh yes of little faith

On a side note...Trent from Toledo posted the lineup jpg from 7pm and filler and Shaw were switched with Shaw taking on Bergman in the end.
Was this done by Marcus after the press conference? Is that legal, to adjust the lineups when you see what the other teams coach posted? This was interesting.

So how are the match ups made? Each captain blindly puts their players down? They know a match is singles or doubles with no idea who the opponent will be?

As always, you can't win on day one, but you can lose it.

Marcus obviously hopes for an early lead and throws his big names in right at the beginning.
If team USA can manage to survive day 1 with a decent score, they will be the favorite for this cup.

I always assumed the names were blindly entered and thatís where the strategic part on the captain comes into play.

Iím assuming the image in trentís post came from matchroom and it was posted after this one....so matchroom made an adjustment.
I guess we will know for sure come broadcast time.

Talking Lineup changed to Thorpe v Filler and Bergman v Shaw - 11-25-2019, 07:37 AM

The press conference https://www.facebook.com/mosconicup/...8830019517654/ (from about 5th minute) had announced Thorpe v Shaw and Bergman v Filler as in post #1

But Shaw and Filler were switched in this latest revised lineup (i.e. Thorpe plays Filler in Match 3 instead and Bergman plays Shaw in Match 5)

Why?
Because there is a rule "All players to have played once in matches 2 - 4" http://www.matchroompool.com/mosconi-cup/#fixtures

Name: day1rule.jpg
Views: 1080
Size: 58.2 KB

If Filler had played the 2nd singles (Match 5) v Bergman it would have violated this rule so they switched to Filler playing 1st singles (Match 3) v Thorpe and Bergman v Shaw in 2nd singles (Match 5)
I see that this rule has been in place in previous years
http://www.matchroompool.com/mosconi...xiii/#fixtures
So it is not a new rule and Marcus just forgot about this rule

So this is the latest lineup (i.e. Thorpe v Filler and Bergman v Shaw)
