What exactly is kielwood and how does it differ from standard hard maple shaft wood?

I looked at your web site and didn't see this information and also searched here first.

Sorry if I missed it.

They're a honey colored, hard rock Maple shaft. Its lighter weight makes it low-deflection. It stays very straight, and typically runs 1/2 oz - 1 oz lighter than a regular Maple shaft. I hope that helps!

Heartwood? why would it be lighter than a standard dried maple shaft?

Hello Prather - those Kielwood blanks look good.
I'd find 2 heavy blanks interesting, 4.25 - 4.50oz finished weight.
Drop me a PM when you get a chance.

Color comes from a heat treating or roasting process. Has a very pleasant smell when cutting.

It’s referred to as torrification...Louisville slugger fortifies the surface of their bats as a side note.

What’s the Mc on delivery?

Never understood the usage of maple sap wood over the heart wood. Must be something with milling availability and full grown tree availability....because all the very very old cues I have are all decently dark to their centers, like century old cues I mean.

Probably a great question for Mr. Bond I suppose

I think the big boost to stability will be the Cryo processes being worked out by major bat makers....

Have reply from Prather, a finished Kielwood shaft might get me to 3.8oz.
If I extend the length by 1/2''inch, I should get 4oz out of it.
Why is the wood so light?
