Recognize a 1/2 ball 30 degree cut, and the 1/8 ball angles.
Paralysis by aiming analysis happens by thinking too much.

To play at top speed.. You must own the stop shot line.

I'm not sure if the "no kicking" rule is meant for only offensive shots, but I can't wrap my head around how a person can effectively play the game without a healthy supply of defensive kicks, especially with one ball left on the table.

What about kicking1-rail to pocket a ball hanging in the other guy's hole?... I think every one-pocket player has to be proficient at and confident in shooting this shot when it inevitably comes-up.

What about kicking 2-rails into a line of spotted balls?

most of the replies are from people that have no idea of what they are talking about. just repeating something they heard from someone that may not have been mentioning that at all.
so far only about 4 people posted that have any real idea of how to play one pocket. one is tom and another is frank the barber.

best to play it with people that have an idea and watch u tubes and learn the basics first.

you dont ask a surgeon to post 10 things to know before doing surgery. he has to know 5000 things before he can swing his scalpel.

What I take away from that “kicking rule” is not to kick at a certain shot. Your on your rail somewhat close to your pocket. The ball is near your opponents rail a little lower than the CB is most tempting. Don’t try to kick that to your pocket...because if you miss long you leave a bank, miss short you might leave a bank or a straight in shot if you kick it hard.

So, bearing in mind that I am a dishonest opponent, when can we play?

(I want a game where I get all my balls and my opponent gives me all of his balls too.... so I won't steal them)

Stand behind where you plan on leaving the cb and ask yourself what you'd do from there if you were the other player. Don't assume the other player won't see the same lockup trap shot that you see.

This might be the best thing I have learned about the game.
I was leaving too many long easy angle banks.
Now I try to leave awkward angles if I must.
Also I try to tie up the banking lanes with a ball or two.

Playing cue- The Mighty Lucasi Cocobolo
Back up cue - Troy Downey

I woke up.
Triangles tips and Masters chalk are good enough.
