I guess I'm spoiled a little. The last place I lived used one of 2 venues, bnoth bars. One had 15 tables and the other 20-25. NEither place opened the tables...paid by the game as always. However, that area had 220 teams and 15 tables was enough to do the job. Where I am at now, there are at least 3 places that have 20+ tables

So when all is said and done, you may need a real job to afford to run an APA league on the side.

Iíve learned that pool is a game where the players want no one to make money but themselves. How do you expect anyone to invest in the game if they donít make money. NFL,nba , mlb.. they donít invest that money for the love of the sport. Every year everyone gets pissed off at Allen Hopkins because god forbid he makes money with the super billiards expo. Forget how many people descend on the place for the best weekend of their year and all the effort and money he has to put up to make it happen .. heís making money off pool and some how thatís terrible.

This is one of many things that hold the game back.

Player........... road line with 12.9 revo and 314/3
Break cue.... bk3
jump cue..... Fury
Case............ Molinari butterfly

If you live with one foot in the future and one in the past you'll piss all over the present.

I would say your area is not like what I have seen in MD and PA.

What makes you think I play in the APA. Sorry, ACS for me. Sure, the nobody, nobody ever heard of is sure he would run over someone he never met.

Well, I'll pay your airfare to Chicago. There is a LONG line of buddies that play in the APA that will match up with you? Me, I'm not much of a gambler, but I'll take dibs after they soften you up lol

Great book me a flight. 5k minimum. Anytime you are ready. You and you league buds cower when there's real players around. See it time after time.

Rule Number 1, don't say something in a pool hall if you aren't willing to bet.
PM me, I got plenty of people you can post with.

PLease keep us up to speed on this. This could be bigger than Lou and JB...

E. Pluribus Unum...that is what our country was founded on...and what we should be striving for today

Disclaimer: I am only an APA 5. I am scared to play for the cheese, even if I have the nuts. I only play on toy 7 foot tables and am terrified of real 9 foot tables. My proudest posessions are my APA patches. Take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Are you still happy he is being so generous to fund 3 teams to nationals? haha

Bump those dues up to $10 per match and you get $432k

Back to you...

Edit: APA national gets 20% ($60,480)...so $241,920 left for him
When I said 90 teams that mean 90 team across all games.
My math says that each week 5 players on those 90 teams pay 8 bucks to play. That is 3600 a week GROSS!!!
Not a lot of money.
Then the regional playoffs we go to the Valley Forge Casino and they have to rent the hall and the tables. Then they have to pay to send teams and individuals to Vegas
NOT A LOT OF MONEY!!!

3600 x 48 weeks = $172K...what classifies as not a lot of money to you? the LO takes in that and pays out $15K ($5k for each team)...oh, minmus the $34k that goes to National. ..$138K left over for the LO

What is the problem with a League Operator, or any other business owner from making money? I thought that was the goal ...

Oh, yeah, the high roll special to avoid anyone taking you up on your offer. LOL

Just show up, you'll get more than a few players lined up. That's how big time gamblers work, right? Stroll in town and take down all the local yokels from Chicago. Bring your receipt for a coach flight, and your covered. What's not to like, getting free airfare and a list of players waiting and willing to play you. Damn, you're welcome.

Oh, I guess the LO does not need to rent any venues for those "City Wide" tourneys, and the other tourneys they have, and the captains playoffs, and MVP tourneys, and such. That's all free? Oh, and they don't send any money back to APA HQ ?? Tables are free? Cost to hire staff to manage it is free. Uncle Sam never taxes billiard stuff cause he use to hustle back in the day so he gives pool folks a "freebie" as well.. Nice to know.

So, yeah, cut the number in half and you might be closer to the truth. lol
