Love to hear people's reasoning on ID, particularly when they are saying it is not something. There can be a lot of variation in grain, color, even density within the same species. Some are going to be more distinct in color and figure, but straight grain and brownish-reddish?


You can also add what individual computers can do to colors :)

according to Bob it's probably sapele, he doesn't use mahogany and from the description i gave he seemed pretty confident
