I hear that there were many spectators and many non pro participants in Vegas. I heard similar things about Philly, but it sounded like you had a good set up for spectators to stop, sit down, and watch.

Hopefully, both of these great events will translate into more interest in 14.1 and more leagues and more events.

The 14.1 Challenge was a big hit and located in the best location. I had notions to give it a try many times, but everytime I had a break the tables were full of great players and I was more moved to watch them. Great Tables, Great Play and a Great challenge for the entire event!

I hope to see it next year!

Guys,

This thread got slightly off course. Got to tell you, those Diamond tables were great. Only tried once. First racks of 14.1 since October of last year. Kind of forgot how to play. Missed a break shot. Froze the cue ball to the rack. Froze the cue ball to another object ball. Finally ran 38 in my last inning. Really didn't understand the format. Should have tried again. Thought only the high eight would win some money. Think they played Saturday. As I was leaving Wednesday, I never tried again.

Well, there is always next year. Twice I guess. Once at Super Billiards Expo and again in Vegas during BCAPL Nationals. Please Mark, let this event become a integral part of the best tournament in the World! I promise this was my next to the last year . Again!

Lyn

The 14.1 Challenge - 05-29-2011, 09:12 AM

A big thanks to Mark for the 14.1 Challenge in Vegas from the players in 'Nate's Great Straight Pool League' here in Oregon. Having a straight pool event of any kind at the major events like the BCAPL, the SBE, and Derby City provides exposure and increased interest for this great game, and fuel for this discussion. I don't think anyone expected a 527, but it's neat that there was a big carrot out there just in case. Mr. Walsh-I don't suppose there's anyone selling reproductions of that affidavit anywhere is there? Man, how cool would THAT look next to our 14.1 board?

Reward for beating 526 - 05-31-2011, 01:06 AM

We will have this event in 2012 (at the riviera!).

This will raise the 'bounty' to $25,000 assuming bob Jewett still does $10,000 and CSI does $10,000.

If we can put this together- how cool would a $100,000 bounty be????

Thank you Joseph long. This could be a start.

You can get one from the Smithsonian. You can download a copy free or you can purchase a much better digital copy from them, take it to Kinko's and get it printed up nice and frame it like I did.
