League website / scheduling solutions - 09-17-2018, 09:54 PM

League guys,

What the types of League Web software's solutions do most leagues use(any gold standards?). I've been thinking about recommending League republic because it has scheduling tools and stats included, to my current league. but it seems a bit pricey. league size is 42 teams and 21+ venues (within walking distance of each other) and a lot of room for growth.

Current league uses a Wordpress site to manage their website manually. It's cumbersome and hard to update. Schedules are also done manually.

Really curious what peoples experiences are on using prepackaged solutions or home grown in terms:

Statistics tracking
Scheduling
Ease of use
Maintainability

I should also clarify the league is in S. Korea, These look nice but seem like they are specific to the USA. Do you know if there are restrictions on teams playing overseas?

I would recommend http://www.cuescore.com. The Dutch federation (KNBB) among others use CueScore for their leagues.
You may even get CueScore translated to Korean if you are willing to help out with translation! You can create a free account and test the software
(the league functionality has limits in the free version), but you can buy cuescore PRO and then you have access to an admin dashboard with a lot of functionality..

Here is a video that introduce cuescore PRO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fA_aY8WCqo

The pricing of the cuescore PRO has been updated since the video was made. Make sure you have created an account at cuescore and that you are logged in at
their website to see the correct pricing. They have introduced price differentiation based on country/region...

That's crazy. Are these people's houses? How do you have that many pool bars so close to each other. I'm jealous.

Well if you want me to explain, There are two leagues I play in, one in Anjeongri (outside camp Humphreys) and one in Songtan (outside Osan). I used to play in Itaewon (outside Yongsan Garrison) but it's on the same night as anjeongri. All of these Army/Airforce bases have what are known as Ville's full of little bars. All of these bars are rather small, but have at least one 9 ft table. Songtan is pretty much pool heaven. I won't lie, it's pretty much awesome.

Itaewon has about 20 teams and about 10-15 pool bars
Min 6 players a team, avg 10

Bar map changes based on participation
http://www.itaewonpool.org/index.php...mid=64&lang=en

Anjeongri has about 40 teams about 20 pool bars
Min 5 players a team, avg 10

Not current but you get the Idea
https://anjeongripoolleague.com/BarMap/

Songtan has over 100 teams and like 60 some bars
Min 5 players a team avg 10

Pretty well up-to-date

I am curious about your format.

Sets 1 and 2 are singles --five matchups each. Is each matchup a single game? Or is it a series of games?

I see the third set has two doubles matchups and one singles matchup.

We with Fargorate LMS are not yet able to handle this format. But we are working on mixed singles/doubles formats of various sorts.

Yes, each match is a single game. Anjeongri and Songtan don't really do any statistics except win/loss percentage.

Itaewon uses a persistent performance rating system based on a Chess rating system (https://ratings.fide.com/)

Itaewon:

Anjeongri :

Songtan:

The rating thing we have down... Fargo Ratings (www.fargorate.com) are better than FIDE/CHESS/ELO approach. And FargoRate LMS uses a genetic algorithm to create schedules.

We're just not quite ready to do your format with the mixed singles/doubles. I think it won't be long.

Leagues in Cuescore - 09-21-2018, 05:27 AM

Hi,

Noticed we were mentioned in an earlier post here and we would like to add some more information.

We have had a lot of positive feedback on our system for managing leagues and from what we have read in the post it looks like it might be a good fit for you.

1. League setup
In the process of setting up a league in Cuescore you can add the types of matches that are in a team match. E.g. Match 1 - Singles, Match 2 - Singles, Match 3 - Doubles and so on. It can also be different disciplines.
So when you create the league schedule, the Team match will have listed all the individual matches with race to, distance and so on.

Example from a finished league - https://cuescore.com/tournament/Pool...2F2018/1619517

2. Captains on teams
Since you have Captains on the team, they will have access to their match on the date of play. That means they can easily add players to their individual match and they can also add the results for each match. (No more need of sending a scoresheet and then have someone else updating the scores).

The captain also have a comment section for the match in case there is a need to give extra information to the league manager.

3. Stats and MVP - Most valuable player
When players participating in the league claim their account (for free), stats will show up on their profile page as soon as a league is finished.
From the league page itself, there is also a calculation of the most valuable player in the league. This info is updated for every match finished.

MVP from the same example - https://cuescore.com/tournament/Pool...18/1619517/mvp

Feel free to contact us at support@cuescore.com if you find this of interest and need more details.
