The way they set this up seem to be fail. IMO.
They should announce beforehand when everybody get their possible invitations. Then they should give qualify tournaments somewhere else too than U.S.
One freaking tournament in Europe? Asia have 3 and U.S 6
It sounds like a bad situation. Assuming that the event will be about the same next year, who in Europe is going to ensure that there are more qualifiers there?

Hopefully the event grows by at least 32 players.

Looks like the qualifier list isn't up to date on their own site. Here is another list:

Maybe he can get to Puerto Rico for the qualifier July 7

Any idea who the WPA assigns at EPBF to hand out the invites? Don't know why these invites aren't public.

In general governing bodies assign invitations according to their own ranking lists. The need to start early in case a player declines the chance. I don't think that's a process that should be public until the selections are confirmed, but the method of selection should be clear to all the players.

In Canada, we use the finishes at the Canadian Championships. So Pagulayan and Morra got the spots for invitations to the world 9b and 10b. When We have an extra slot (like when Alex is in the top 16) they go down the list of finishers, I believe.

Craziest thing I’ve read is that Dennis Orcollo has no invitation. If your invitation process excludes Dennis, it needs work, IMO.

Gideon
