That's great. Proud of ya. Sure seem twisted over this for some reason. I kinda like it. Just means a few less clueless jackoff kids f^&kin' with their phones the whole time.

You talk like 12 year olds are trying to get in.

Lou Figueroa
twisted
but not over this

See the youngsters all the time at the pool room.

And while the Horseshoe is not as "wide open" as the EW was it's still pretty loosey-goosey

Lou Figueroa
they ain't IDing nobody
unless you and PT volunteer

I don’t understand. Is this at the horseshoe? Last year when I was there there was a checkpoint where they stopped you and ID’ed you prior to entering the casino area. What’s the problem with that? Maybe they lived from the Horseshoe?

The extraordinarily naive nature of your statement leads me to ask: have you ever been to the DCC?

Lou Figueroa
ever?

Maybe you can elaborate on that.
Some places 18 year olds are allowed to work in non gaming areas....
....even serve alcohol.

And if you’re talking about all the action at the DCC, that’s a gray area....
...lots of action around children in many places outside a casino....
...and this casino allows it to happen...even though it’s not licensed to.

In ‘85, I played the best snooker player in a fairly big city for decent money....
...gambling in pool halls wasn’t allowed...but not enforced...I did pretty good.
...he was the sargeant of detectives for that burg...and the cops were cheering for me.

So why am I naive?....or maybe you can’t explain it to a dunce

As far as casino venues go almost all are 21. https://www.casino.org/local/guide/ I don't see them moving over this. I've seen id's checked all the time in Vegas. Because its the first year for this i predict there will be quite a few IGC people there. If you don't believe it feel free to take your kid and give it a try. Feelin' lucky? ;)

My son is 11. Excellent player (if I do say so myself) - junior national champion. The exposure to high quality pool at DCC is excellent, so I would have loved to take him, .... but I don't like my chances. :)

Have Lou F. be his chaperone. He seems to know everything about getting in a casino. ;)

This will be the first time DCC has had to deal with this. Its beyond their control so whatever happens is on the casino and the gaming comm. Since its the first time i predict that they will be fairly strict on who gets in the door. I'm sure some under 21's will get in and it won't be a big deal. Do they want to risk it? Spend $$ to go and then immediately get turned away or tossed? Will DCC change venues over this? Possible but i doubt it. Not enough players/spectators in that age bracket to really worry about.

First year for it. They just finished it a while back. I have no clue as to how its laid-out now. I think hotel is same they just built new casino on dry land connected to the hotel. Last day for boat casino is in early December.

As I've noted previously in a different post, it’s a shame.

Among the most memorable matches ever played at the Derby was when the then 14 year old Fedor Gorst tested Alex Pagulayan to the max in a double hill 9-ball thriller ultimately won by Alex. At the time, I had never even heard of Gorst. If memory serves, Skyler Woodward (or was it Billy Thorpe?) reached the Bank Pool finals against SVB at about 16 years old, too.

Watching the young, emerging stars of the game has always been a thrill for this fan, and has always added flavor to the Derby City Classic. This is disheartening.

SVB lost to Morra in Banks.

Skyler won a thrilling Bank Ring Game as a teenager, out-dueling Bustamante.

We won’t see the future young guns in action (tournament and other) at the DCC, which is the biggest downer for me.

And how old is Tkach???

Thanks for the correction, Freddie. I know I remembered a memorable banks performance by a teen, but I guess the details are a faded memory.

Tkach will be 21 on 1/19/2020 and will, therefore, be of age for this year's Derby.

Hope you'll be my guest for a match or two at this year's Derby. See you in January, Freddie.

They probably won't be checking ID's throughout the building. They will probably check ID's to even get in. At the Ohio Casinos you can't get in the building unless you are 21. It may be the same with the Horseshoe now. Anytime I went to the Indiana casinos they were boats so anyone could be in the building but not in the boat. For those that have gone to the DCC and went to the casino know that there is an age check before you get on the boat. My guess is that it will be similar to Ohio and the age check will be at the beginning and you have to be 21 to get in the building. We shall see.

Yeah, I think Sky was young but past his teenage years.

Sky was playing TAP league (amateur league) a couple of years before that. I think he won a TAP singles event, then goes to DCC a few months later and cashes deep in a couple of events.

With the boat gone you'll need to be 21 to get in. Good opportunity for someone to do a junior version. Do it in Louisville somewhere a couple days/week before DCC. May work, may not. Just a thought.

I see you’re long on grilling and short on info.....
....you’re gonna be the guy asking the questions around here, huh?
I guess you feel that naifs should shape up or ship out.

Gotta a feeling that you’re ingenuous enough that you think you’re in a conversation.
