You can get about any combination. Canvas or linen. (or paper or other) Only problem for my current furniture need, they don't make holes smaller than 3/16". I've uses phenolic for years as a machinist. It's brand new to me for cues. I've appreciated all the advice received here on many subjects.

thanks!

I'm not seeing any LE phenolic tube for sale on USPlastic. Just the paper phenolic tube. I can find the rod available(special order) in LE.

The linen based should be listed as LE material. The big cue builder supplier I believe just calls it rolled and molded. They specify if it is canvas.
I've messed around with some paper based for different projects and although it machines well I didn't care for the inability of it to not crack easier than the linen based in the tests I did.
Got a link to your LE phenolic tube supplier? I keep finding companies websites that mention talk of a LE phenolic tube, but never do show one for sale. I did find one, but something seems off about their availability too.

If you're speaking of the USPLastic link, tha'ts their XX grade, which is paper. I would love to get some LE tube, but all I keep finding is the paper tube.

Sorry - i'd have sworn they had it.
However, it is not difficult to find on the 'net; though it apparently takes some digging for a specific ID vs wall.
If you are in a hurry, MSC has options. 40 - 20 years ago they were still the new hungry kids. Now they seem to be rapists. Nonetheless:

https://www.mscdirect.com/browse/tn/...be&hdrsrh=true

McMaster Carr has a smaller selection, better prices if what you need is in the mix:

https://www.mcmaster.com/phenolic-tubing/

scroll down a little for LE & CE options.

I'd still check N. Plastics special order.

So odd that those two didn't return on my searches first couple pages. As long as whoever is buying that tube doesn't need it black, it looks like those will work. Would be nice to have a tube of black rather than the rods I have now.

Someone know if this phenolic tube and rod is of good quality for tapping threads and to machine?

Machines well, glues well, and is as black as you will ever find, IMO. There are 2 ridges on the outside of these, 180 degrees apart. When Chucking it up, have to make sure the jaws are not on either ridge. It is a bit easier to tap for ferrules than others I've used.

No.
Plenty of the brown canvas for break ferrules.
With those clear break tips these days, one piece ferrule tip breaker and jumper are passe'.

Then son called 5 mins ago, wife & I "need" to edit 3 grad school essays by 11:45 tonight.

Otherwise:

But probably tomorrow at this point.
Rolled/molded rod from Atlas came this afternoon.

Black phenolic LE tube here in joint and butt sizes, not sure where acquired.

Brown canvas is fine, have a lot of it...but when they ask for black....see my point?
The black that some suppliers have is less then black unless you dye it after machining it, I'd rather just have to machine, sand, polish and done.
As to the clear tips, I have seen a couple, only because the customer wanted them removed and white diamonds put on
