ring game - 06-11-2009, 11:34 PM

I doubt you will find any B players (Tuesday style) who will be willing to put up $50 to play. Thats with or without a chip edge. You might get some true B players of my level to play though.

Ring game 10 ball on a big table doesn't sound like much fun to me. Isn't there a way we can turn this into one pocket?

LOL I dont even know how to create a 1 hole ring game. Come on out and play tomorrow man. You should start up something for the 1 hole crowd!

I'm thinking people aren't realizing the nature of this ring game. It is a format where people will be in it for a while. How many tournaments do you go to where you play and go 2 and out but wait 2 hours between matches. You are involved every single rack and it will take someone dropping an 8 pack to get anyone eliminated before an hour goes by. I'm actually thinking about leaving the ante the same for the first hour to see if more people would play that way. It's something new that I havent seen done, trying to get a couple bucks in the pot so the winner is happy and people feel like they are playing for something. I think you should play regardless of having your own cue or not, just come have some fun and support what I'm doing, I'll even buy you 2 drinks not counting the 2 for 1, come on out!!

This thread is about action, personal beefs, and stirring the pot up. It's about my guy can whoop your guy just bet somethin. It's really a historical record of whats been going down. I think it's the start of a new chapter. Yes Craw, it's about me too!!! You know sometimes a leader can get lost in the crowd if they move to slow. When I don't like stuff I give it my best shot to change it. Show people they have options and there is more to do than whats presented to you.

Sky's the limit...if we support this ring game it will give people some confidence to start up some type of 1 hole tourney again, or put together a non sanctioned pool league type of deal or whatever else people can think of. I'll be the guinea pig but I'm gonna try hard to make this thing work.

I understand what you are saying, but for a B player to have a chance at top two or the money they are going to need to pull something out of their ass and shoot like an A player. Yes this is the whole purpose is to get gamble, pressure situations, people woofing, action, etc...but for a B player to want to do it he has to have cash flow to dump $50 and that doesn't include any calcutta or side betting. I might try it just to see how it goes and how quickly I am done. I'll let you know. Regardless I still think it is a great idea, and you are my hero.

There's a post in here somewhere that says our top plaers need weight from other top players, I agree with that to an extent. I have been at ring games where Tony Morrison, Sam Monday, Scott Lewis, Robert Ray, Jeff Pruitt, and Jeff Abernathy have all been at the same table. These are all great players mind you, and I've seen multiple games where they all shoot in a single rack. Ring games don't play like normal games. Trust me, the rules I'm running, the higher buy in, and the fact people just dont play enough on the Big Box lend everyone a great opportunity to be able to cash. I don't think anyone is going to be able to win this easily. Plus I guarantee there will be lots of missed outs around the 5/6/7 balls and I know lots of people who can run 5 balls to get out. The key is going to be winning a rack every 4 or 5 games. If you can do that you will have a chance to win for sure.

Lol, speak of the devil. I just got my cue from the Philippines and damn it looks nice. Now for the true test is to see if it rolls straight and if the inlays don't pop up from the climate change. I think I might test it tonight .

Those sticks play good. Bobby McGrath won that international speed pool challenge with one. I played with his a bunch of times and liked it a lot especially for the price

10 ball tourney tonite, I will be in attendance and promoting the event for tomorrow. I dont wanna give away the list of people playing in the ring game tomorrow, but I think 12 is going to be a starting number. If there's less than 12 I'll be shocked to be honest.

BTW, i am not in for a calcutta. I think donating my $50 is nice enough

Not sure about Justin, Jason C is in CA for a wedding.

12 would be incedible. I would say if you think you have 12 coming then 7 will show up IMHO.

I'm sure a couple people will not show up but I think there may be some surprise entries. If we get 10 I will still be happy. I'll try to promote this thing for a couple months and hope it takes off to the point where on any given week theres a good 16 players in it. If not I'll quit trying and be highly disappointed. Ive had a long week so it's time to take off, see u guys 2nite.
