i like my 24 oz long cue
i would like to experiment with a 58 inch cue at 22 or 23 oz
just to see if the weight or the length or both is the reason i like it

anyone have a heavy cue

Just buy some heavy tape an put it at the balance point.

Let us know how it works for you.

How will you measure the success/ lack thereof.

only fair way to test is to lay a price on making spot shots and bet at least say 100 or more or the amount that makes you choke a little.

then the cue that you do the best with or lose the slowest at is your best pick.

Ib don't care about a scientific experiment
i will run a few racks, set up some shots and know

if it plays good for me is the only concern I have

my problem has always been hitting the ball accurately when I hit it hard
the long heavy cue improved my game considerably

now i want to see if it is the weight alone or length alone or both together

just an informal practical experiment for me alone to find what i like best

Black ball

your advice using lead tape is right,i forgot what i was doing

i will also try the weight at the rear of the cue and other places

thanks for reminding me

golfers always used lead tape easy fix
thank you again

Up until I started buying some newer cues, over the last few years, I always used 21 ounce cues.

I may have to break out one of my old ones again to play some. The only reason I haven't done so is because I've had them all refinished and they look too pretty to play with.

Been playing a 25 ounce cue most my life, most my friends switch to a heavier cue after trying one of mine.

Had a friend years ago that was a really good player..His cue was 27oz...I tried it once but just felt too heavy and strange...I know several players that have 20oz and 21oz and they love it...

Weight of Cue

I've found that a heavier cue smooths things out. I want to practice with a lighter cue, then switch to a heavier cue for competitive games. With a lighter cue I can see more of my mistakes.

My cues range from 18 to 20.5 (which I thought was heavy until reading this thread).
They all play the same to me. 23+ oz. would be more noticeable I assume.

For a while I played with a 21.5 oz McDermott. I really liked it but I eventually traded it for a meucci gambler. Now I’ve been experimenting with a long cue you know well. :) . I like that too but I haven’t had time to practice to switch over.
