JoeyA...Obviously he hasn't played yet. The OP listed 12 groups of 8 players...96 out of 128. There have to be 4 more groups of 8 to play yet.

Jrene a question for you. Do you have anything to do with the WPA?

If the answer is yes, I have another question.

How does the the WPA hold a "World Championship" in this day and age
that can't be viewed unless you happen to be there?

There are different hurdles that have to be met to be sanctioned by the WPA, ie so much added money
and so on.

Why is not one of the hurdles, that at least the so called "World Championship" has to be streamed to be called that and sanctioned!

The stream will be up from Wednesday 27 . And I agree with you that with all the money they have, put a webcam + a laptop near each table for the streaming is not that hard, just a question of organization.

I sent an email to the contact email address (at their website) for this event expressing my feelings about live-streaming for this event. Hopefully, live-streaming will be a part of the entire event in the future.

I encourage others who would like to see the live streaming to do the same.

If this is something we want, we all need to let the people that make these decisions know that it is important to us.

Personally, I don't believe most of the world, understands how easy it is to obtain people who are throughly familiar with putting a livestream system together, how relatively inexpensive it is to put a livestream on, and how live-streaming can positively impact their events.

In fact, I still find people who play pool regularly who don't understand just how much pool live-streaming is already going on.

If I were the people in Qatar, I would hire someone to put together a complete program and then hire my own people to maintain and stream their events.

JoeyA Wouldn't you think that the WPA should know this if they are the
Ass. that sanctions all the World Championships. It's just hard to believe.

Yes, but I think it may be difficult to convince the decision makers (who pay for the equipment and broadcasting) of the value of live-streaming. I would hope that the WPA has prepared a carefully designed protocol detailing the benefits, costs and value of live-streaming to share with prospective tournament promoters.

It could create new revenue streams and additional interests in pool and their event.

Yes, it's important for somebody to let the governing body know that the American fans, unlike the American pool professionals, are interested in WPA World Championship events.
