7 footers are for amateurs. The Pro's need 9 footers for a proper tournament. People are saying that even 9 footers are too easy and they should play on 10. Having a ranked event on 7 footers is a bit silly.

Magic Rack + 7 foot table + Pro = one hell of a boring game to watch.

I know why it's being done and it is not my dough but nonetheless I get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I see the words "U.S. Open," "10-Ball and 8-Ball," and "7 foot tables" used together.

I'm not positive but i think the US Open Golf Championship is being played on a Par 3 course this year.

I totally agree with you Lou. I just can't stomach this and I actually play quite a bit of pool on the bar box.

I prefer seeing pros play a game that challenges them. I don't mind seeing them occasionally play on a bar table but when they do I would rather watch them play on some beat up old table with an old fashioned rack.

Pros playing on Diamond Tables with template racks is a joke.

Unfortunately, us real pool junkies are a dying breed.

so.....if 7' tables make the game just "too easy" then i assume we will be seeing everyone complaining out there playing and robbing this tournament since 7' tables are so easy?

i get that 7' tables isn't the ideal situation for a tournament of this caliber, but every PGA tour event is played on a different length course. there is still a place in the game for a course like Harbor Town that is barely 7000 yards. you don't hear golf fans whining about that "not being a real course" just because it's shorter.

i, for one, will be looking forward to watching some of this tournament regardless of the size of the table. it's still the best in the world playing.

Ahahaha. Did you really think that was a good analogy??? and did you really say "everyone" should be robbing the tournament?!!?? Let me clue you in-In any tournament only one person can come in first (second too).

A shorter golf course can be quite difficult with rough, well placed traps, sidehill lie tees, dog legs, well placed trees and in a hundred other ways.

A smaller pool table is just that-a smaller pool table.

Which means typically more clusters especially when playing 8 ball. I, personally, think 8 ball on a 9' is a complete joke at the pro level. Seldom any clusters or real issues to deal with.

You are right 8 Ball is a joke for the pros- It's a C players game and quite interesting at that level.

Still i believe there are multiple pros who have claimed 8 Ball run-outs in the 20's on the 7 footer too.

Haha I hate when people throw in "more clusters" when trying to defend 8 ball on a bar box, show me a match you've seen with two top pros that WASN'T a break and run fest? Almost every rack is 1 inning and seldom ever play safety in 8 ball. 8 ball is still a run out game for the pros, no clusters or safety play.

As for the 10 ball...I think in the big money 9 ball at smokin aces played on valleys the high pack was 6. And that's over two years of that tournament. The game may be easier, sure, but its still far from easy.

8 ball on a 9' is no different.
