How do you define an "attempt" Is it one day, one week, one month at a time like John did? I think that 30 consecutive days defining an "attempt" would be a fair offer - I don't know why some of the top pros would not accept that challenge. It might be easy for some of them to find a backer for this attempt at a 50/50 split on the $100K.

Is this an offer?, a suggestion?, an actual thing?, a challenge? or just a random cryptic blurb?

I'd go with the random cryptic blurb.....besides, pool players are broke.

Next will be table specs....

I'm backing this guy on his home table. Where do I send the check?

I think what he's saying is every attempt that doesn't break the record deducts $1k from the total.

Not entirely sure, though.

Why is everyone in a rush to break the new record so quick. Damn, let John enjoy it for a little while.

Well, the way I read it.....

I think he's asking for $1k, then on your attempt, if you hit 627, you win 100k.

100 to 1 odds.

Agreed.

By definition, "an attempt" is singular. One try, $1k. ...for $100k

Personally, I like the cut of the OPs jib. He's got moxie.

No, he has an adequate handle on the probabilities. I think the right odds are more like 2000:1 for the best players under optimum conditions. That means that any taker can expect about a 5% return on each bet. Note that the conditions were not specified.

About a year ago there was a plan to have a series of long 14.1 matches that would have the possibility of a 527 run. The players in the matches would have been guaranteed some appearance money and there would have been a large bonus for a 527 like $100,000. That didn't happen to come together but it was pretty close. A run in a match format like that is a different animal than a solo high-run attempt, of course.

I’m thinking with Efren in the neighborhood - in the big picture of things;
I’m wondering if Dean would accept 4 attempts for his to-show fee,
And, with an option on a 5th attempt if there’s enough food for Efren and crew on this
couple day layover at deans’ place?

2000:1?
