Here are some aggregate break statistics from the Turning Stone Classic XXXII 9-Ball Open played August 22-25, 2019 at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York. Free live streaming was provided by AZBtv on the Facebook page of UpState AL.

This was a 128-player double-elimination event. Shane Van Boening won the tournament, defeating Earl Strickland in the final match.

Conditions -- The conditions for the streamed matches in this event included:
- Diamond 9-foot table with pro-cut corner pockets;
- Tournament Blue Simonis 860 cloth;
- Aramith Tournament Pro-Cup TV balls with the measles cue ball;
- Diamond plastic triangle rack;
- winner breaks from a central box (2 diamonds wide);
- loser racks, with the 1-ball on the foot spot;
- cue-ball fouls only except during the act of shooting;
- no jump cues allowed;
- no shot clock;
- all slop counts; and
- lag for opening break.

The stats are for the 21 matches (289 games) shown on the main streaming table with commentary. Two additional losers'-side matches were streamed at 10 am on Friday and Saturday; I did not watch them. These 21 tracked matches represented 8.5% of the event's total of 246 matches played (8 matches were forfeited), and are listed here in the order in which they were played. [Note: These stats exclude the 3 games that were conceded in the Van Boening/Archer match, the first game of the Rodriguez/Cloutier match (stream started late), and the last game of the Thorpe/Sossei match (stream ended after the break shot). So the stats are for 284 games.]

Here's a more detailed breakdown of the 284 games (for match winners and losers combined).

Breaker made at least one ball and did not foul:
Breaker won the game: 118 (42% of the 284 games)
Breaker lost the game: 55 (19%)
Breaker fouled on the break:
Breaker won the game: 9 (3%)
Breaker lost the game: 11 (4%)
Breaker broke dry (without fouling):
Breaker won the game: 46 (16%)
Breaker lost the game: 45 (16%)
Therefore, whereas the breaker won 61% (173 of 284) of all games,
He won 68% (118 of 173) of the games in which he made at least one ball on the break and did not foul.
He won 45% (9 of 20) of the games in which he fouled on the break.
He won 51% (46 of 91) of the games in which he broke dry but did not foul.
He won 50% (55 of 111) of the games in which he either fouled on the break or broke dry without fouling.

Break-and-run games -- The 62 break-and-run games represented 22% of all 284 games, 36% of the 173 games won by the breaker, and 36% of the 173 games in which the break was successful (made a ball and didn't foul). The 62 break-and-run games (including 9's on the break) consisted of one 5-pack (by Hohmann) one 4-pack (by Thorpe), two 3-packs (1 by Hewitt and 1 by Van Boening), five 2-packs, and 37 singles.

9-balls on the break -- The 62 break-and-run games included 2 9-balls on the break (0.7% of the 284 breaks). One additional 9-ball was made on a fouled break, so it was spotted.

Miscellany from the data for the Turning Stone Classic XXXII 9-Ball Open
[This relates only to the 21 tracked matches, not to all matches in the event.]

• The most balls made on a single break was 4, done once each by Immonen (a game loss), Hohmann (a B&R), Rodriguez (a game loss), and Strickland (a game win).

• The average number of balls made on the break was 1.0 (this includes dry and fouled breaks). On successful breaks (made at least one ball and did not foul), the average was 1.5, and the distribution was 64% 1 ball, 30% 2 balls, 4% 3 balls, and 2% 4 balls.

• 38% (109 of 284) of the games ended in one inning – 22% (62) won by the breaker (B&R) and 17% (47) won by the non-breaker. 17% (47 of 284) of the games lasted more than 3 innings.

• 31% (89 of 284) of the games were run out by the player who was at the table following the break. These run-outs were:
- By the breaker after successful breaks (B&R games) – 36% (62 of 173)
- By the non-breaker after fouls on the break – 45% (9 of 20)
- By the non-breaker after dry breaks – 20% (18 of 91)

• The player who made the first ball after the break:
- Won the game in that same inning 55% of the time (155 of 282)
- Won the game in a later inning 20% of the time (57 of 282)
- Lost the game 25% of the time (70 of 282)
[Note -- total games used here are 282 rather than 284 to eliminate the 2 games in which no ball was made after the break.]

• Excluding the finals race to 13 and the match with 3 conceded games, the loser won an average of 4.3 games in 19 races to 9. The closest races to 9 were three at 9-7; the most lopsided were two at 9-0.

• The average elapsed time for 19 races to 9 (excludes the match with 3 conceded games) was 76 minutes, or 5.7 minutes per game. The elapsed time for each match was measured from the lag until the winning ball was made (or conceded), so it includes time for racking and timeouts.

• The race to 9 that was longest in elapsed time, at 113 minutes, was Lombardo d. Antonakos 9-7. The match highest in average minutes per game, at 8.5, was Barretta d. Crowe 9-0.

• The match that was both shortest in elapsed time, at 37½ minutes, and lowest in average minutes per game, at 3¾, was Strickland d. Shaw 9-1.

• Breaking fouls averaged 1 for every 14.2 games, other fouls 1 for every 3.4 games, and missed shots about 1 for every 1.6 games.

• About 45% of the games involved one or more safeties.
