Why isn't this included in the specifications.

Ex - 1.30 is very different from 1.25

We have:

Weight
Balance point
Shaft diameter
Shaft taper
Ferrule length
Ferrule material
Joint
Wrap
Tip
..........

I feel butt diameter should be a top 5 spec to list.

Shafts point of reference is at the tip. Where would you measure the butt section for comparison ?

Mid wrap / handle and Buttcap.

1.26 mw / h
1.28 b

I would accept just Buttcap if the above was to time consuming.

Anything is better than nothing.

I agree. I'd think that's an important measurement to consider.

I agree. Some Philippine cues have a smaller butt diameter. Feels a little funky to me.

Many of those are not automatically included in any description.

There are no real standards in cues, just things that are considered to be 'common' but anything and everything can and do vary between your list to everything thats left. Ferrule installation (maybe most important to ferrule play) , shaft and butt lengths, joint OD, butt tapers, wrap lengths, joint and but cap lengths, bumper configurations and so on and so on.

Until there is an industry 'standard' set for any one part of the cue , if you want to know, you have to ask.

Oh and you better ask how they measured it too. :)

I agree with measuring the end of the buttcap. This is good information that provides a general indication of the overall butt diameter. Obviously there is a butt taper. Measuring mid wrap is not specific and worthless for a wrapless cue.

Balance point is measured from the buttcap (not bumper). So I don't think it would be asking too much to ask the diameter eight inches (or whatever) from the buttcap. But it would be much more accurate to just measure at the end of the buttcap.

Nothing wrong with measuring the end of the cue in addition to the middle and tip. Most people selling cues on here have a digital caliper for tip and joint measurements. If not, they only cost a few bucks at Harbor Freight.
