I have a JD Cue that I bought used, with a 3/8 x 10 joint.. It has a .855 dia. joint. Is that about standard, or will I have to have a special shaft made, to used an after market shaft?

There is no standard in the cue market as a whole. .840" is most popular, but .850" is rapidly catching up to it.

.840 is still most popular and straight .400" taper to the bottom is probably still the most common taper.

"Standard" on most after market shafts I've been exposed to is .850 on a 3/8-10 and .840 on a 5/-6-14.
Best of luck to you.
