Good afternoon, Mr R. :)

The Tiffany balls only launched a few weeks ago, yet are now being listed as unavailable. Surely they haven’t sold out already at $1,500 a box?

Did I say deep pockets? What a fool. These from Louis Vuitton require deep pockets!

A veritable snip at only $57,000.

So... It's been a busy/rough last 2 weeks here at work and I've not had a chance to look in on my favorite thread.

This morning at approx. 8:30 am we were able to get our latest project out the door, and in celebration,I decided to check in and maybe find the next target of my money... And I found this!???

good lord!!!

maybe some Aramith Stone or Great Whites instead.

or just a beverage or 3.

RC, have you inquired about the manufacturer of this Tiffany set? If not I'll get on the case?

Here’s another interesting set from Tiffany.

One for which deep pockets are needed, unfortunately. They’re $1,500.

hello RC;

as you are probably aware, a while back Tiffany offered a sterling silver ball rack and chalk holder, the rack was $1500 and iirc the chalk holder was approx $400.

I do have one of these chalk holders, impractical to use but a cool novelty, imo.

best,
brian kc

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. :)

I hope you’re all in rude health and fine spirits today.

gdc25: It is a quite extraordinary price tag, sir. I suspect that there is only one example of Louis Vuitton’s billiard trunk and accessories (for publicity purposes) in existence, waiting for a discerning customer of considerable means to place a bespoke order.

bfriesth: Those Tiffany balls were recommended to me on the occasion of their launch by an enthusiast online. I haven’t contacted the company, dear fellow, and would be most intrigued indeed to learn of any further information.

Kickin’ Chicken: I was aware of the Tiffany ball rack and chalk holder. As you say, sir, they are a little impractical for a serious player perhaps, but still an impressive curio to have in one’s collection. On admiring your beautiful photograph, Mr K, it occurred to me that a single Romanique ball would make a rather nice accompaniment to the silver cube. A chap is selling individual examples on eBay for $39.

pt109: Great fund, sir! Not many folks know that David Niven, aside from being a fine actor and wonderful raconteur, was also an extremely brave fellow. A war hero.

Best wishes.

Alien Prometheus Pool Balls.

Here’s an interesting set, made for the 2012 film, Prometheus. They were later sold via a specialist movie prop auction (sales pitch recorded below).

I don’t know about you, ladies and gentlemen, but to me the design strongly resembles Dynasphere’s new Platinum set (see last image).

Part Two.

A Pool Cue and Billiard Ball Set from Ridley Scott's 2012 sci-fi horror film, Prometheus.

Serving as a prequel to his 1979 classic, Alien, the film follows the crew of the Prometheus as they travel to the distant moon, LV-223, in search of answers to the origins of life.

This lot comes from the scenes taking place in the crew mess bay, notably when David (Michael Fassbender) poisons Dr. Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) with the Engineer's black secretion. Included in this set is a pool cue and nine custom made billiard balls.

The pool cue is constructed of wood with a black and silver metallic fiberglass casing and a SUPAGRIP wrap handle. The cue screws together at the center, and can be easily taken apart for storage. Included with the cue is a protective sleeve made from red velvet. Paired with the cue are nine custom made steel balls that have been decorated in varying colors with a triangular logo on each.

Due to production use, this set features minor wear, including some scuffs to the balls, however the set remains in otherwise very good used condition.

I do believe we have a fellow pool ball collector amongst us that owns that singular movie prop Prometheus ball set, RC

If he doesn’t have eyes on this thread, I’ll reach out and see if he’d like to share any details!

Raschig Booklet.

Good evening, everyone.

Whilst clearing my desktop I stumbled upon this sample from our Raschig booklet project of 2018. It shows a comparison of pages 3 and 6 before and after restoration.

Observant members might note that the number 1 is somewhat different in the upgraded version.

All numerals were presented in a Rockingham typeface except (rather glaringly to my eye) that yellow 1. I simply had to amend it. The typesetting design of Raschig's original leaflet also left an awful lot to be desired for me. I wanted to restructure the text entirely, correcting the many tracking and kerning issues, but Mr K persuaded me to leave well alone and just make everything more legible.

He was right, of course. :)

Triple Eye Balls.

Good evening, everyone.

I was rather taken with this design. I believe it would make for a highly desirable set if it ever made it into production. At present, alas, the concept exists only in digital form.

R Balls.

I found an image of these R balls online. They were created by Ross Billiards of Ohio.
