confusion serving fascist interests - 12-27-2009, 11:50 AM

As the fascists in the U.S. are on the verge of establishing a 3rd party, confusion around the definition serves their interests. The use of "socialism" as an expletive & equating "left" & "right" also sows confusion, which serves the interests of the fascists.

Fascism has been precisely defined by Dimitroff & Togliatti , German & Italian freedom fighters in the leadership of the struggle against fascism as follows;

"Fascism is the totalitarian rule of the most racist, nationalist, reactionary sectors of finance capital."

Thus, Nazis, neo-nazis, KKK, Aryan Nation, & other white supremacist groups would clearly qualify.All of these groups call for the genocide of various groups in arguments grounded in racist & anti-semitic ideology.

Socialism calls for the transfer of the means of production to the working class to be DEMOCRATICALLY administered.

Obviously, under the rule of Stalin and Stalinist dictators, socialism was not implemented.

There are those who explain the failure of socialism as inevitable because of negative assumptions about "human nature." For people like Konrad Lorenz et. al. greed & aggression are hard wired into the human psyche.

On the other hand, people like Joe Slovo, in his essay "Has Socialism Failed?" provide a historical explanation for the failures to achieve socialism. Like Einstein in his essay, "Why Socialism?, Slovo concludes that socialism is possible & preferable to capitalism.

Both essays can be retrieved on Google.

Obama

The legitimate criticism of Obama has also been a source of confusion as he is labeled a "socialist" "Marxist"... despite the fact that he is surrounded by Wall Street & Ivy League cronies who have fashioned an economic policy which is merely Keynesian corporate welfare.

His foreign policy merely serves U.S. imperialism & profiteering by the military industrial complex. Thus his foreign policy is indistinguishable from that of his predecessor.

FDR- FDR's policies were more progressive, but he was not a socialist. He merely developed safety nets as concessions to protect capitalism from protests by industrial unions, populists, socialists, an incipient Civil Rights movement, & the Communist Party U.S.A., which had 250,000 members at the time.

General Smedley D. Butler thwarted a fascist coup attempt against FDR, thus labeling FDR as a fascist also sows confusion.
