Do you avoid dealing with people who you know don't have the same beliefs as you? If yes what if they offered you a deal you couldn't refuse. Would you do it?

Yes, I once refused to sell a car to a guy who said he didn't like the Janis Joplin cassette that I had in it when he test drove it.....I just can't deal with people like that.

Seriously...WTF are you asking?

I consider qualitites like integrity, reliability, and fairness. If someone lacks personal integrity I will be the first to rush out the door no matter how good of a deal it might seem like.

I can tell you for sure the Unabomber did, but the rest of us have decided to just let others have their own beliefs and we will reluctantly deal with it.

He didn't get nearly enough credit as a fashion trend setter either..... which is probably what pushed him over the edge.

Yes, I do occasionally listen to NPR while driving, but not often. Should this have been a poll?

I edited that because I wasn't sure if the Shooter08 actually meant "beliefs" as in religious or political or "character qualities" as in crooked. Intolerance has not been a good thing.

I sell to liberals all the time. Just because they have different political beliefs does not mean they should not be able to shoot with great chalk ;)

Heck, I even have a couple guys in NPR that is running feud, but I'd sell them chalk, or course, I doubt they would EVER buy from me. But I just don't hold grudges. Even some guys in the MF, I usually forget who I disagreed with a few weeks later anyways ;)

I know basically what he meant, but is typing out a complete sentence with maybe a little explanation of the context too much to ask? I decided to put the same level of effort in with my answer.

If someone doesn't understand the history of Lent and Easter, then I have no desire to hang around them.

Yes I would do it. If the offer is so good that that I couldn't refuse I would have to do it otherwise it isn't an offer I couldn't refuse.

You are correct

Yes I would do it. If the offer is so good that that I couldn't refuse I would have to do it otherwise it isn't an offer I couldn't refuse.

I got ya, I guess I didn't mean the "deal to good to refuse" to be literal, but I would take it too, it is to good to be refused.

looks like no pool for you when you hit the Chicago area ;) Religion is NOT my bag, never has been, never will be. But, that never interfered with a 25 year marriage as my wife is Lutheran. She does her thing, I do mine. Kinda like she does not come to pool league on Tuesdays, and I don't go to church on Sundays with her. It's win/win I tell ya ;)

This question has been on my mind for sometime now, believe it or not...

I guess I'll answer it this way:

All of my businesses of course involve selling something in some way. I don't think I can legally refuse to do business with someone based upon their political beliefs/leanings, so yes, I will sell to them..

But if a perspective customer comes along, who I know for sure is a liberal/progressive/socialist/communist/occupy wall street type, ect..., and is outwardly vocal about it, I have gone out of my way to avoid business with that person (To honestly answer the OP's question).

For example; Say I see a thread here on AZ, with a person is looking for a deal on a particular item that I may happen to have and sell. If I know that the person is a flaming lib., I most likely will just keep on going. But if I don't know that persons political leanings, or they are aligned with my own, I'll send them a message, and offer them a good deal...

A lot of people may disagree with that, and when I started out life in business, I often bit my tongue for the sake of the sale (profit).. I don't do that anymore...

I've contemplated for quite some time, changing my signature line to something like, 'If your a liberal, I cannot stop you from buying from me, I can only ask that you do not.'.

Might piss some people off, but what do I care...

It's not so much what they may believe, but how they treat others. NPR is a perfect example. They tend to treat people like crap under the guise of attacking politics, not the person. That type of bs can lead somebody to go somewhere else. There are businesses on both sides of the spectrum here in Portland that i wouldn't spend a penny at, based on their interactions with customers, employees or the general public.
