The date can be expressed as 11th of March or March 11
...either is correct

II guess it varies around the world

The standard in the US is MM-DD-YY. That is, of course, stupid and broken. In Europe and likely most of the world, the format is DD-MM-YY -- bigger towards the end. The US military realized that this is a horrible problem, so military format is 11 Mar 19. Or at least it was the last time I looked, as in this sample from someone's DD-214:

The Canucks are all over the place....just looked at some of my IDs.
One is Y-M-D....one is M-D-Y....one is D-M-Y

We are heavily influenced by Britain and the US of A....
...and we got some of our own quirks

Just at work, we have people using different methods....I use D-M-Y
...i mention it sometimes...usually it’s “What’s the diff?”
I tell them that if architects communicated this way,,,we’d have buildings collapsing,
