My 9 ball break has been big for me. I have made 1 pt. average this season on that. I was able to make two balls on the last rack of the match and managed to get decent shape on the 1 for a nice run that I needed for the win, 35-16.

My 8 ball game is officially in the chitter again. Lost 3-1 due mostly to my poor decision making. I decided to play a safe and managed to make the 8 ball out of turn. Blew two shots on the 8 that was very makeable. I just stunk up the place....lol.

Recap:

The names have been removed for safety concerns :).

We had our makeup last night and found out that our deuce wasn't going to be there, and my wife had to play Valley first in the same bar and would not be able to play until after that....soooo that leave 6 people trying to play 4 matches at once and coaching/score keeping etc lol. CHAOS.

That being said I did get to play 3 times or twice in 9 ball and once in 8 ball. I won my first 9 ball match a little too well so I made sure I got smoked in the next one. I didn't have to try to hard as the guy I was playing was playing very well so I had to only dump minimal. I ended up winning 15-5 in 9 ball vs the first guy and losing 15-5 to the second guy so I am probably still safe from moving up from a 7 for now at least.

I then played the guy I just lost to in 9 ball (who is a nice guy) in 8 ball. I started very slowly, but got stronger throughout the match. He wins the funny comment of the night. After I won the third game he was racking and looks at me and says with a straight/sincere face "Would you please let me win at least one game"!! I got a chuckle, won the next game in 1 inning and then snapped the 8 on the hill to win 5-0 :D. 5-0 10 innings, total of 4 safeties so since I believe each safety knocks off a half inning it comes to 5-0 8 innings...not great, but not too shabby. We didn't get home until 1230 this morning though so I am beyond tired.

I left work around 5, traffic was so bad it took me 1.5 hours to get home. Called my wife (who was also working and gets off at 7) and made dinner plans. At 7:30, as I'm walking out of the house, my captain calls and tells us we have a makeup match and I have to go... Pssshhhh ain't nobody got time fo dat :D

Dinner was delicious :)

Wow and the wife was OK with that??!!! She's a keeper!

Josh, who is this "8" that you played? That's an impressive comeback....63-11

yea that is pretty impressive.

kinda proud of my comeback i posted on here a while back ...i think ?

i was down 18-2 and come back to win 38-24. it was a 36-6 run once i started pocketing balls.

not as impressive as the run above but hey... i am only a 5 and was playing a 4 .

I didn't go. I told my captain it's bulls*** that I'm forced to go when he has 4 others players that don't "feel" like going. I already had plans with my lady, pool can take the back seat for one night.

She's cool with me playing 3 nights a week as is and is OK'ing me to get a Diamond once we find a new house

She bought into the "Well if I have a table at home, I won't go out as much." :p

Yeah, she's definitely a keeper!

She usually ships packages for me, while I'm at work and she sent one the other day and was curious to know what it was. I mentioned it was a jump cue and that I had already bought another one :grin-square: She said "I don't see what the difference is, but it's your stuff." lol

No complaints here :p

well i had napa league today.... last day of this session. a couple of hours before match time i get a phone call. its the captain of the team we are facing today. he says he will only have 2 players showing up today and asks if we can play 2 today and the other 3 tom, before apa league. he says he has some players outa town playing in the apa singles regionals this weekend. i say sure ...no problem.

well i get to the pool hall.... he has 2 players and i only have 3 show up.where the hell is every body ?

i lose the lag and my opponent chooses 8 ball......yay ! my best game. its a 4-3 race and i win 4-1.it was not my best performance but it was good enough.

after wards my co captain asks me what my plans are for next session. i told him i was still trying to drum up new players. we have been having trouble with people not showing up.

he says the captain of the team we faced was talking to him while i was playing the last match and was wondering if some of us wanted to join his team.

i said i was ok with it if he was. we both decided to hell with trying to keep a team together and join his.

in the last 3 months i went from being the captain on 3 teams and playing on 5 down to being the captain of 1 team and playing on 3. less stress and head aches lately has improved my game.

1st league since last Sat. when my back went out. Played another 4. I should have crusher him, but he was somewhat a banger. Slopped in a bunch and seemed every other shot he missed I was hooked. 1st time in a very long time I made a 9b on the break to win the match.

i played in my apa double jeapordy last night.it was just not to be my night.

i played pretty good but just not good enough.

1st match was 8 ball. 4-3 race. i lose 3-3. last rack i played a jam up safe. my opponent kicks 2 rails ..threads thru 2 of my balls with less than 2" to spare on either side of the cue ball pocketing his last ball. he is perfect on the 8. i don't think he or i could duplicate his kick 1 out of 10 times but he made it when he needed to and deserved the win.

9 ball race to 38-31. i lose 37-31. i shot pretty good . even had 1 b&r. but i made a few mistakes which kept my opponent in the game. i am up breaking ..needing 1 point and my opponent needs 6. i break and make 3...but the 5 ball kicks the cue ball in a corner pocket. my opponent takes bih and runs the table.getting his 6 points.

i stated a while back i had quit my bcapl format money league. well this week i will be back up to 4 nights a week. starting on a new napa team.in a place i very seldom play.

its gonna be interesting for a while getting used to the tables. they are valleys that play more like diamonds . fast cloth and springy rails.

We have a new Jack & Jill scotch doubles league starting up. My wife has been showing some interest in playing and at her request we signed up. It'll be fun to get her out playing and I'm already in the mindset that this particular league isn't going to be about winning or loosing and I'm just going to try to make it as much fun for her as possible. My wife is a complete beginner so I'm going to get her a cue to help boost her confidence and then its off to the practice table. She does seem excited to play and thats a big improvement over being nervous to play in front of others.

Not bad for not playing

So after 2 seasons off and months of not playing "don't let that mislead you on my skills" I decided to take another go at some competition. In order to keep active and not lose all abilities, I signed up for my local 14.1 league and here is how that went.

My first match was against a beginner "one of those who have been holding a cue for 30 years but call that playing for 30 years, if you know what i mean". So based on my last handicap the race was ME = 110 vs HIM = 35. On that day all i wanted to do was hit balls and giving up that type of spot made it more so. As the game went on I felt like "what ever" I'm not going to play this guy too hard cause i don't want to discourage the guy and stuff like that (I have a soft spot for beginners). when the score got to the half way point I said "screw this! i don't want to lose" and turned up the heat. Long story short the final score was 110 - 34

Yesterday I was getting balls 150 - 99, this guy is strong and I for one don't/didn't feel like 50 balls was enough to make this an even race. We started shooting and neither one of us was playing at our best but me more so that him, so I didn't take full advantage of the chances he left and gave him even better ones on my misses. Long story short I turned to my one true asset to tip the scale, i'm a grinder when comes to playing less seasoned players and it payed off. Final score 99 - 137

I'm feeling really good right now with those two W and hope that i'm in the same sprit next sunday.

Nice! I'm envious of anyone who can play in 14.1 leagues. I played 14.1 with a friend of mine yesterday. He always kicks my ass and this week was no different. This week, it was all my own fault. He left me with wide open tables a couple times but I could only make a few balls before missing. I ended up losing 100-50.

No league this week; we have a Bye. Unfortunately, no league for me next week because I'll be out of town.

That's an awesome goal!

I bet I could get some side action with that next match!!! Gotta love prop bets.

I had a 4 point break a few weeks ago, without the 9. That was extra rare, as I rarely get more than 1 ball on the break.

A guy on my team had a 6 pointer a couple years ago, with the 9. For him to get 2 or 3 balls on a break wasn't terribly surprising, but 5 balls sure was something

On 9-footers...

Nice! Yeah my 5 point break included the 9 so it was really 4 balls dropped...I like prop bets as well to keep things interesting. After I did a similar to Happy Gilmore quote saying I should just try to do that every time!

Yeah for some reason just seeing 4-5 drop is pretty darn cool...sooo I am definitely going for 6 points (even if it just means 5 balls including the 9) this Thursday...not sure what goal I can do for 8 ball since I have an 8 snap, rackless patch, and break and run patch so far coming. I'll have to think about it...thoughts 2-pack Dave?
