I had a week off from both teams, first time in a while. I had played both nights for at least four weeks straight, and at least one night for the previous three before that, so it was time for me to sit out. No issues with me.

I also wanted to try and get our other 5's going. They are all better players than me, but two of them havent played much over the last couple years beyond league night's, so they aren't playing even close to their potential. (Sadly, three out of the four between both teams lost this week, so we didn't make much progress.)

I'll be back in next week, at least for 8-ball.

Played on diamond boxes today. Couldn't get it going in 9 and lost 13-7 to a 7. In 8, I played a 7 and missed a tough bank the first rack then ran out. Broke open, he dogged the 8, I played safe then ran out. Bnr and bnr. Broke open, he hung a ball and I ran out. Now, if I can just figure out 9b.

Annnndd Boom goes the dynamite!

He's a bully, always pickin on me in rotation games. Almost made me cry the other night! Chuck keeps telling me he's going to teach me, then he just makes all of the balls in the pockets. I'm not sure it's helping my shooting, but I think my racks are getting better.

I dont have patience enough to play you 8 ball for more than a set or 2, I can only rack so many times before angry birds gets boring. 9 ball is all I have, and youre playing sporty enough as it is ;). Either youve gotten better, or Im out of stroke. But I plan on starting to play more than once every week or three so we shall find out......

no slow start for me tonight fellas. i practiced at the house for about an hour then went to league.

i won 4-0 in a 4-3 race. did not play 9 ball due to we would have been over 23 limit.

meet: Stu/SJM.
we met-up @ Mosconi. along w/ CueBuddy & Bob Jewett & Vagabond & LF, etc, yada, yada.

SJM, is THE, "go-to" man, for ANYthing, pool related. KK9 calls him a walking encyclopedia. and he's totally cool (we "like" him!). he knows everyone, in pool. and everything. he's got so-oooo much history/involvement - it's not even funny. and he plays Jennifer Beretta every WED @ Amsterdam....

plus, he's a DUKE fan - so he's OK in my book!

Best losing break ever

8 ball last nite.
Attempting 2nd ball break
My break miscue twice.
My team is all a-giggle
Decide to look at cue ball last
Keep head down and dont look up
Low center English
Smash them hard.
lots of noise
Hear ballls going in
Team hooping it up
Team hysterical
Made 6 balls
2 low
2 high
8 ball
You ask why so funny?
Cue ball sails off table 6 feet onto another tables game in progress, makes a ball and scratches.
Gotta smile......

Lost my 10 ball set Wed night Masters but totally outplayed the guy. I missed two 10 balls in the side, both from about the same angle. Although they were very make-able I was a bit upset at coming up short on position. I always have issues making a shot after I make a mistake, even it's by only an inch or 2.

Still went hill hill with me having to spot him a full game and a few balls.

Team won overall as my son won and so did my other team mate so we're now 6-3 although don't know if we'll move up in rank from 4th pace as the league goes by total team points and not just the win/losses. If you win 3 close games in a night, you can be behind a team that had blow outs 2 games and lost a 3rd close.

This week we're playing the #1 team that has 8-1 record (maybe 9-1 now as last week was not posted yet). The players on there are beatable though. Last session my team was the ONLY one that beat the #1 ranked team (different one that this as the teams tend to get shifted around with players), and we beat them both times we played. Those were actually the only 2 looses they had all season, so I have a good feeling going into this Wed.

Managed to come out of the slump.

So I went from 3-0 in my local 14.1 league to now 3-2, and despite the loss and not being able to go 5-0 or even 4-1 i'm not totally beaten up about it. I had a double header yesterday and played close to even minus a few balls, giving them in the first and getting them in the second.

Don't know what it was but I was kind of a slump during the first match cause I was still getting use to my new stick with the maple shaft from the predator that I've been playing with. So I wiped out the predator but it was too late.

In the second match I played with the new stick and went for the "Free stroking" method in order to get back in stroke and not leave in the slump, and it worked but wasn't enough to win my second match, because when all is said and done if you don't have luck on your side...... then you might as well just have fun

Hello AZB, I'm new to the forum. I rejoined the APA this session after being stationed overseas for a while. I play on an in-house 8ball team out of Tampa, FL. I joined an existing team that had handicap room for me, a S/L 6. Since the start of this session 2 members of our team have been bumped up a skill level (justifiably so). Now we are in danger of having to break up the team if someone else increases in skill level.

I love the cohesiveness of our team, but I'm not sure if I will be with them next session because it is my goal to become a S/L 7.

This is one of the aspects of APA that I do not like...It is almost like they do not want teams to advance as a team or to get better at playing...

Just started playing again after a 4-5 year hiatus. Was a 6 when I left and they put be back as a 6. Was struggling up until last week due to not realizing I have developed a dominant eye opposite the hand I shoot with. Maybe it's always been dominant and I just compensated all the 30 years, but I am shooting much better now that I have changed my stance ever so slightly and have my left eye over my cue.

I am at a 63% win for the session (9 ball) and 2nd place in the black tier for top gun.

Same with TAP....you have an over all team handicap that you have to stay under...I dont like it but I understand that they do it so you can't load a team up with the best players and dominate every one...It gives the lower level players a chance to be on a competitive team because the higher level players have to have a couple 3' or 4's ...I agree that it drastically slows the progress of the better players and it promotes sand bagging...
