Best One Pocket player?

I understand that. I'm just saying that there's nothing stopping him from being a top 1p player other than himself. Anyone with his cue skills could adapt to any pool game. The Filipinos don't play it at home, they learned it after coming here. No reason SVB couldn't do it.

Anyone, yes.

That makes for a long 'if' list.

there's a lot of pool I haven't seen
but I like alex
he just seems to do everything well
he doesn't quite have the "magic" that efren does..
but nobody does.
otherwise, he's the all-around heir to me
bata's bata

in terms of form tho,
I can't say

edit:
I want to add that I'm a big fan of dennis
but alex does seem to have some kind of knack, or intuition for games
tony is very fun to watch too, but his style is top-heavy
and I love that busty is still competing..one of my all-time faves

There is a way to settle this. Alex vs Dennis...its that simple.
One or both of them seems not to want to play.

I'd love to see it, but I don't expect it anytime soon. They have the same backer for their big money games, and I don't think he's lining up to bet against himself.

There's been a consensus top 3 for a while, and it's become relatively clear that Dennis is probably better than Tony at this point. That leaves Alex vs. Dennis, with Dennis's superior shooting ability vs. Alex's superior creativity and moving, and it would take a big match, or a few of them maybe, to really test out which would prevail.

my guess is alex

in my opinion the game i really wanted to see was Nick vs Efren

I know I am getting senile but Nick Varner was the best player
I ever saw,but so was Efren

I think Alex is the best one pocket player in the world, and above Dennis Orcullo, Tony, Scott, etc.

I think at one point Nick was the best and he's got the title and wins from many action matches to prove it.

Alex's game is MUCH like Nicks (although he doesn't employ the wedge). What he does just like Nick did in his prime, is employ the correct shot every time. If the situation requires solid safeties and smart shooting he does it. If he's in a bad spot which requires more aggression instead of cowardice, he employs that style (and due to his phenomenal skills is successful way more than he isn't).

I love watching Tony's game. When he's on..he's on...and just looks so cool on the table. I like his style. Same with Frost.

Edited to add....EFREN is undisputedly the greatest one pocket player of all time. Even if his capabilities aren't what they once were - his legacy will reign supreme.

I cant believe no one mentions Ronnie in their all time best. I dont believe anyone played better 1p than Ronnie for the cash .His 8,9,10 and outs .His move was to send you to atm.I believe Artie would give theses guys all they want. But i do think Nick is the all around G.O.A.T. if he would of been with us longer probably Harold Worst.

You can believe anything you want.

Of course, I believe that if Artie wanted to play any of the bullies mentioned in this thread even...he could win a lot of money*

*Not a lot, by casino standards though!

Your right about Ronnie.., Bugs and Cliff where not to be fooled with either. I thought the questions was more about todays players..,

All time?

Ronnie Allen and Efren. both of them in their prime would
be a 1P dream match.

Right now?

I'm going with Dennis.. his shotmaking and
banking are tough to beat.

Not sure what's up with Alex.. his eyes have been mentioned.. saw
him practicing with glasses, then took them off to play.

Now let's see.

The original post asks who is the REIGNING best one pocket player and asks that Dennis and Alex be compared and contrasted to Efren in his prime.

To be the REIGNING best one pocket p[layer, you not only have to still be alive, but you must still be the best. Hence, Efren, the best ever, doesn't qualify for consideration, since he is largely retired form serious competition.

Ronnie's name comes up in every thread pertaining to the one pocket GOAT, but he really has no relevance to this thread.
