Gotta love them Bushwhackers. :bow-down::welcome:

You might not have liked the atmosphere there....lotta gambling between matches.
....and everybody looking for an edge.

When I first walked in, somebody was trying to get down on the old two-move checkmate....I grinned at my travelling companion....said.."I missed this stuff."

Mike Sigel beat a man 11-0 in that tournament...and made six 9-balls on the break that match....now they would probably want the 9-ball spotted...competition has been pussified.

Larry Hubbart, at hill/hill, had to drive a 5-ball down the long rail and follow the length of the table for position on the 6-ball....from froze on the end rail...said "These shots usually only go in when you're practising."...he missed, got knocked out of the tournament.

I nailed a guy on making 5 pat hands out of 25 cards that he shuffled and dealt to me....
.....what a sleaze, eh?

Here's a name you might know.....Dave Charette.
...I haven't heard his name for ages....he would be in his 60s now.
Dave played in a tournament at Joe Farhat's place in Lansing...'77, I believe.

I was coming off a seven year lay-off, so I drove over to watch.
the field was full of great players, Dave beat everyone but Mike Carella in the finals.
I thought I would've heard more from him over the years...he had a great stroke.

I saw a young Bushwhacker there for the first time...'Floyd' gave him the eight, for $500, and Gary got the cash.

I remember, at the end, Mike Carella was getting a lot of applause, and he interupted it to give Dave Charette mucho kudos...I thought that was nice.

No, the name doesn't really ring a bell for me. It does give a little tap, but that is about it.

Lansing is only about 45 min. from Grand Rapids. I don't really know why, but they seldom came here, and we seldom went there. Maybe we just each had enough action in our own back yards.??

I saw Billy Palmer a couple years ago but I'm told he doesn't play much anymore. I was told diabetic issues (eye sight?) had hurt his game. I saw him play some great one pocket to beat Scott Frost in the finals of a tournament about 10-12 years ago.

He was running Harley's Rack N Cue as he has been for quite a few years now, hopefully he's still as onry and hilarious as when I left Jacksonville 5 years ago. The Jacksonville pool community has been hit hard in 2016 losing a couple of legends in the area, RIP Johnny Ross & Larry Gayle.

Harley's has been closed for at least 6 years now. It has been a number of "show" bars since.

Who the hell is Ron Rosas???

Seriously? He was a TOP So Cal player in the early 90's. Probably in the 80's too, not sure because I only caught the pool bug in the 90's. He was always a 1st place contender in the local tournaments and these tournaments drew in monster players. At the time, probably the nation's hotbed of pool.

He also used to write articles on shooting tips. I'll try to dig one up and post it.

I am pleased that I don't have to ask what happened to Mike Davis.
