Hello Forum:smile:

Billy's Amboyna Burl Cue by Bill Schick.
Pretty cue yea..
Very fortunate opportunity for me, to create a Crown for one of Billy's
prized possessions.
Love that Amboyna Burl smell when turning/cutting.

The CNC Machining for the crown points took kinda long.
Can you imagine the pressure of machining those Points after all that Inlay work was put in?
 I used to..... Now.... :p

Thanks Billy,
Thanks for viewing guys..
Alton

Alton, it almost feels an injustice for you to retire at least without sending us an apprentice. I can't think of anyone who does work like yours, not even close. Always love seeing the pics and wondering how you got all the little pieces to work together.

Color Veneer Sleeve

Thanks for posting guys. :)
i did not want to bump this post again.
But, I should say Thank you. :)
I'm surviving Ray.
Hope you and all you guys are O.K.
Since I'm here... :groucho:

SnookerT , about an Apprentice..
Joint Protectors 501-Veneers, and, Joint Protectors 602-Semi Advanced Inlays.
Prerequisite: Joint Protectors 101 - Cue Screw Threads. :grin-square:

Here is the way I thought of, to put a color veneer inside the Main Body.
I hold the veneer in water
As the veneer softens, I slowly curl and roll it smaller and smaller.
I put it in a coin tube and let it dry.
I cut the seam line, and, fit it into the Body's bore.
Just like cue makers do wraps.
I make a close fitting tendon, to spread the veneer evenly,
to get the maximum surface contact and even inner surface.
I use delrin, as, it is a "self lubricating plastic" ( for lack of a better term).
I put the top ring on too soon. I forgot, I got to machine a veneer slot up the side of the body.
so, ignore that red top ring.. :sorry:
The Szamboti style Split Diamond.. I used Black Veneer for the slots.
I think Gus and Barry used Black Veneers?
I machine the veneer slots with the start and end past the diamond points,
glue in the veneers, then, machine out the diamond.

I try to explain stuff as I post things. :)
Not to "show off", but, more, to let people know how stuff is done, if they did not know, or, curious ..
Ray and others, you'll never know until you start.
You might find something for yourself.. :)

Alton :) < I Found it!! :) nah, had to say that..

Mr Caps,

Besides your beautiful Cue Caps, you also present your works of art in a beautiful collage of pictures. I was wondering if you do that yourself and how you get a hold of the actual mating cue for pictures. Do your customers send their cues to you so you can dream up those crazy caps?

Thank you.

Photo Software

Hello Ghost Ball, :)
I use PHOTO IMPACT PRO, a photo editing software.
I bought it and learned to use it. 69 dollars a long time ago.
I make my own collages/ layouts.
I call them "Gallery Presentations"
I thought it made a better presentation for the cue owners and others to see.
Was not that hard to learn to do.

I use the Cue Owner's photos they send me.
I crop the cue's out , then, copy and paste onto a black background.
2020, the hand held devices have good photo taking capabilities.

I rarely, if ever, accept/take possession of other people's cues.
The liability and responsibility is too great.
