I think someone might be a wee bit insecure....If you have to bash other people or put people down to make yourself feel better....there is some inner child stuff you need to work out...I am guessing that you are no where near as good as you think you are and probably beat up on some local players in some bar....thus you think your some kind of superhero of pool... Call you mom and tell her you love her...It will make you feel better

To answer to the APA pros and cons, I played 15 ball rotation, almost identical to Filipino style when I started, at around 14 or 15 yo., played until I got married at 20 and then moved to the states when I was 24. Went to couple of pool halls in the beginning but was surprised to find nobody that played 15 ball rotation, so stopped playing for about 30 years then I joined the APA just to get out of the house (work from home) enjoyed the first few weeks, but then started to notice the sandbagging, complaining and all the issues with he point system, yet kept playing because of all the people I met, made few friends, etc. Started as a 4, then went up to a 5 and after a year made to a 7, meaning my game started to come back and felt good. Then came the issue of playing with 2s and 3s at times, good for them but I don't find incentive to get better plus all rules are geared towards lower level players and wanted to take my game to a higher level, can't do that in APA, touching and moving balls without penalties, etc. After complaining to myself about it, realized that the APA was not for me anymore and moved to play Masters, no handicap, love it!
That doesn't mean that the APA is bad or sucks, just not for me, it has a group of people who get together socially to have a good time, extremely flexible and easy rules, which happens to be the majority of humanity, not everyone play pool for the same reasons, just find the right environment or league for you and play your best, either with APA, BCA or whatever. Stop calling people that play here or there "less than anyone else", they are happy doing it, isn't the "pursuit of happiness" part of the American way of life? Some use it as an extra income, more power to them, but hustlers? Have no respect for them at all. Play just for the love of the game, fairness and good character should be part of every player, regardless where they play at.
One more thing, people calling out others that they think are aholes to play money with? If I think you are an ahole, I won't play with you, professionalism goes down the tubes, that makes me laugh, nothing more than trying to show thoughness, more times than not, is just the opposite, psychological intimidation doesn't work with real though guys, now flame me if you like, shoot well!
Great post. I agree with a lot of hat you stated.

Yea there are sandbaggers out there. In my experience I dont think its as prevalent as some claim..

After playing a year I got to where I was one of those that complained about prevalent sandbagging but over time 2 things changed my opinion of how prevalent it really is in my area

1. Over time every one that I had complained about was eventually raised. They were not raised because I complained...they were raised because the handicapping system works.

2. People started complaining I was a sandbagger..when people started complaint to my face...to every one they knew and even to the lo it opened my eyes to just how quick people are to jump to opinions and throw that word around.

Upon reflecting on times when I was called a sandbagger I realized a few things...mainly every one has good nights and bad nights.

Another thing I realized is there are plenty of sore losers out there that cannot handle defeat...especially from a lower level player that had a good night and the fact that they themselves had a bad night.

I have been called a sandbagger countless times but the most ludicrous accusation came from an opponent who was the same level as me and lost 9 ball by one point .

Yea one point...he started complaining to hiss team mates and then went around the room telling every one I was a sandbagger. This was during tri cups and I eventually got to the lo who was there. Upon liking at the score sheet the lo started laughing .

It was not a laughing matter to me to have my reputation tarnished by a sore loser.

It was obvious to me the moment i noticed him posting using that name. Clearly a poke at me, with the "justa" thing going on. He and I have had our go-rounds for some time now.

I didn't get into it with him this time around, and even agreed with him on some of his posts in other threads. I knew that at some point his true colors would shine through, so there was no need to get into outing him.

It was fun watching it happen tho. He's quite predictable.

To be clear, nobody "outed" him.

I have all the tools I need to check out posters. There are some clever people who manage to escape my immediate attention...but only for so long.

I was recently accused of throwing a match, which I have never done. And the match I was accused of throwing was my last Match with a team I went to Vegas last two Years with. And the chemistry with the team was just gone. I'm a six that was pretty strong and have just lost my focus for last six months or so. How quick people are to forget at states when you need a win against a good seven, and you have three sixes on your team who gets picked and steps up. A lot of Apa players I don't consider "real " pool players. But any money spent at your local pool hall and in the industry is positive for all.

It was not outing anyone. It was a joke. Will Kassoouf is a guy who made a kASSouff of himself at the WSOP this year. He evoked the same kind of braggadocio.

I have friends and other players that insist I am screwing with them if I'm just not in the zone..feel like S*** or whatever..just not pocketing like I can.
They think I'm sandbagging or trying to make them feel bad somehow by not playing the speed they expect 100% of the time.

They don't understand that it isn't always just will power...I can be having a crap night and take a break for a while and maybe return to the table to fall into the groove.
This only makes they say "See!! That's what I'm talking about!"

Trust this: If I'm playing crap....it isn't because I want to.

That's the kind of thing that could cause some people to hate the APA :-)

Yes that is possibly true.

I ran into a former Napa team mate about a month ago at the pool hall. He was sporting a nice shiner. I asked ho. What the heck happened..

He told mw he was playing a guy 9 ball race to 7 for 500.00 on the gold crowns. The other guy did not take kindly to my former team mate playing a whole lot better than he thought he could and as a result refused to pay and gave my former team mate a black eye.

I can see where that would cause some people to hate gambling with serious players.

See how that works ?

He is neither old or feeble. My buddy is possibly in his early thirties......the other players is in his late twenties.. As I understand it the other guy acted like he was gonna reach in his pocket for the cash then came up and sucker punched my buddy.

They had played each other before with out any issues but not for this kinda stakes. I guess you can say the higher the stakes the better my buddy plays .

Edited to add....my understanding is they had played on bar tables before....guess the guy did not think my buddy could play on 9's just as well.

Sorry, I was thinking maybe it was an older dude maybe. Well in this case then, I hope he put a whooping on this guy he ain't NEVER GONNA FORGET!!! I also in some form or fashion he took that half stack outta that guys ass!!! Ma be snapped his pool cue ( if he had one ) in a million pieces for starters. People are always giving this and that excuse, but this guy being a Nitty Nit ass j/o is what gives pool a bad name. Not very gentlemanly at all and j hope he does that to the wrong person one day and gets what he undoubtedly has coming to him. Sorry your buddy got the stiffie!
